Going after a temporary holiday job?

With unemployment still in double digits in metro Atlanta, are you more likely to go after a temporary holiday job now?

Toys R Us says it will hire about 45,000 employees to help with the holiday season, doubling its U.S. work force, Associated Press reported.

The company said it is hiring more workers than in the past three holiday seasons because of an additional 600 smaller stores located in malls and shopping centers, AP wrote. Those “pop-up” stores are called Toys R Us Express.

In metro Atlanta, Toys R Us has already added a dozen stores in malls and outlet centers, with more on the way. Other retailers and distributors also pump up hiring during the holidays.

Given how tough it is to find a job these days, will you consider temporary employment? Or will you hold out for a permanent position?

Why should I settle for a job paying less than $12 an hour, when I can make $300/week tax free and qualify for all the entitlements(food stamps, free lunch 4 kiddos, section 8, and medicaid, all while sitting in the comfort of my own home, doing nothing? Perhaps if I feel a little ambitious, I might get a “side job” and make a little $$ under the table. Don’t want to mess up my free ride. Besides a holiday job might mess up with my winter partying schedule. Lots of parties to host. Thank god for the food stamps. I could not afford the expensive cheese and wine working a normal job. At a normal job I would have nothing left after taxes, gas, and child care (atleast that’s my excuse).

I’m still on unemployment, hopefully for another year. The market’s so bad, why work at some crummy mall job when I can make more money from unemployment doing what I want!!!

Unemployment I think you are a disgrace to society. You should be ashame and willing to take care of yourself and not wait on someone else to do it. Remember all good things do come to an end!!!!

Ohhhh you darn rights I would accept a temp or part-time! Sitting on one’s butt and crying ‘oh woe is me’ does not cut it. A dollar earned is better than no dollar at all.
