Well, I am certainly in the minority here, but our company is having a Christmas Party. We are having it at one of the hotels. I always knew I was blessed to have a job, but after reading some of the comments, I now know I am truly blessed because I work for a company I actually like. Go figure.

We did scale back this year in that only employees will be eligible for the prizes and/or give-a-ways. But, I am grateful to have a job so I appreciate my boss' efforts.

There are a LOT of companies who are doing very well right now, and showing their appreciation to their employees by celebrating at the end of the year.

These are companies that were smart in their management, including trimming the lazy unproductive workers, investing properly, and treating their hard-working employees well!

Remember the tens of thousands of low-paid workers in the hospitality and entertainment industries - their jobs are affected when companies don't celebrate, too!

Jimmy Baron - December 25 is Christmas Day, this is the day we have to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and anyone in this country can celebrate Christmas - right now we still live in a free country!! If you do not want to celebrate Christmas you do not have to! I will never be ashamed of Christmas and celebrating Christmas! I will go to a Christmas Party. I will have a Christmas Tree in my house and in my office. I have no idea who you are but I will not allow the likes of you to take away my Christmas Holiday!! If you have a problem with Christmas I suggest you leave this country. Oh by the way - I would never take away your "Holiday" Party or tell you you couldn't have a "Holiday" tree or whatever you call it that is your right if you are an American Citizen in this Free Country!!

As usual, we will have our Christmas party again this year. I so look forward to it each year. It gives us Christians a chance to get away from the Jews, Muslims and Jehovah's Witnesses in our company and it provides a welcome respite from having to associate with them and to pretend that we like them and welcome them as team members. It would be wonderful if every day could be Christmas.

I'm with my co-workers every week for 45-plus hours. Who the heck wants to spend an additional 5 hours on a Saturday night with these drunk people? I'd rather be with my family.

We have stopped doing holiday parties at my company and instead have either Breakfast with Santa or Lunch with Santa where everyone with children bring them in to sit on Santa's lap and have something to eat. It's a bit more low key, but for the most part everyone seems to enjoy it, even those without children. It's a great way for parents to get a visit with Santa w/o the long waits or big price tag and everyone gets at least an hour or so to relax and enjoy the company of their co-workers. Now, when I first started working for the company we did have a pretty large buffet and drinks party with a DJ. It was fun, but I'm fine with doing a much smaller thing this year based on how things are going in the world and for most around us.

We also do the Angel Tree Network which gives gifts to children who's parents are incarcerated. We have a limit on gifts, but most of the time the caregivers as for practical items like clothing or a nice winter coat. That is more of what Christmas is to me, rather than gifts and just spending money. Things have gotten way out of hand and this is a great time for us to get back to the basics of the holiday and what is truly important during this time of year.
