I have had Verizon FIOS for three years now. Two year ago I switched back to Comcast for TV service due to frustration with many of the same issues already noted on the comments in this site, and the fact that the ACTIONtec routers kept failing.

I kept the internet service in Verizon FIOS with VoIP with a 3rd party provider after Verizon allowed me to connect a general commercial router to the network, and not use the ACTIONtec box.

After all of this I can say without any reservation that Verizon customer services is the most incompetent in the industry

Recently I was informed by Verizon that my internet connection will go up by 25% in December. I am looking for alternatives to Verizon. Any suggestions? I live in the Northern Virginia area of Washington, DC.

They have the WORST customer service people in the world!! I hate em!

Here is the number to the CORP. Office here in Atlanta 1-888-610-0995. (Evelyn) is the person that I spoke to she was great.. Yeah RIGHT!. Please call and ask for her. I've found that it does make a different when you contact them (just not Evelyn) other that than that BS of a customer support. Yeah, I can read from a script too.

I do believe that in this life some people are PAPER OR PLASTIC! THEY JUST DON'T HAVE THE BAGS ON DISPLAY IN FRONT OF US.

HEY COMCAST STOP BEING TARDY FOR THE PARTY! YOU WILL BE SITTING OUTSIDE SOON LOOKING AT WHAT GOING ON!!

Comcast has always had horrible customer service. But, at least once the service was connected it worked reliably and you didn't need them much. Now, this @#$% digital conversion has made the product not work. So they've lost their only advantage. Seriously, I don't have time to be on the phone with them at least once a week making my TV work. To make that even more ridiculous is the amount I'm paying them for a service that is unreliable. Why would I stay with them? Now, there is absolutely no reason for me too. I can go to DirectTV and get a package deal with my other AT&T services. So even if the service isn't 100% reliable, at least I'm not paying as much for it.

Of course, the other thing I'm asking myself is why am I paying so much for TV service when I only watch a few programs. Except for the news, the programs I watch can be watched online at any time. I rarely catch them at their appointed time anyway. So I could eliminate alot of the channels I'm paying for and probably never miss them.

Charter recently installed new digital equipment in my area and neutered my pricy DVR by defeating its ability to download the TV Guide Menu. I'd opt for DirectTV but their pricing structure is no better for expanded basic and they don't carry NatGeo but do carry NFL. Yohoho, it's a pirates' life for me.

Don't move too quickly on uverse - I signed up for it eagerly when it was available. After four installation tries, we got the service going, but it had it's moments. Let's just say watching Dancing with the Stars on an etch-a-sketch might have been better quality - but it only really happened when it rained, which is really really strange.

After two months of service, I went back to Comcast and got their hi-speed Internet too. Being in Fayette County, we've had our issues with Comcast's predecessors, but I can't complain - faster internet, better picture quality.

The major minus was the lack of HD, but I think Comcast will be solving that next year with their "world of more". I'm excited :)

I switched from Dish to Comcast when I moved to my new house. I really liked Dish, but I didn't want to plant a dish on my roof, and the picture would occasionally fail due to weather with Dish. I found out after I had moved that Dish expected me to climb up on my old house's roof to retrieve a $150 part from the dish, or they would charge me for it. I will never deal with Dish again.

Comcast is OK. Too expensive, but a reliable signal. This converter boxes are a pain in the rear. When I first got them, I spent 2 hours talking to very nice Filapinas that could not help me. Finally got transferred to an American, and everything went smoothly thereafter.

I've been looking at UVerse, but it looks like the same price.

I long for the day when you can buy just the channels you want. No freak-show channels, no commie channels, no religious channels, etc. Heavy on the sports.

Comcast sucks beyond what any words can express. The service is always intermittent, and the service is way too much. And the weird thing is that I would almost be willing to pay the outrageous prices if the service was constant, which it never is. The modem is always on the fritz, which affects the phone line for the alarm system. I have been waiting for u-verse or fios for years with pregnant anticipation just so I can fire Comcast. They can't be any worse right? Right?

AT&T's U-Verse doesn't support us ReplayTV owners at all. At least with Comcast I can get a Digital Adapter (in my case a Pace DC50X) that my ReplayTV can control via IR Blaster. Even the DVRs that U-Verse is using don't have a supported set of command codes.

Yes, I can replace it with nice HD DVR from AT&T (usually a Motorola VIP1216), but even though it can record four shows to my ReplayTV's one and does HD (RelayTV is only SD), there's no easy way to save or view those shows on my PCs, and there simply isn't an equivalent for the Poopli show request service that ReplayTV owners still enjoy.

Comcast has its flaws, but at least I can still use the equipment I own.
