Foreclosure counseling is getting a boost from a government grant.
Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Atlanta today announced that it has received a $3.5 million grant to support its foreclosure prevention efforts in Atlanta and several other metro areas. Foreclosures in metro Atlanta are at record levels.
The money from the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program will enable CCCS to conduct 18,400 more counseling sessions for homeowners in danger of foreclosure.
“At no cost to the homeowner, counseling provides people with information and resources to help them avoid foreclosure,” Suzanne Boas, president of CCCS of Greater Atlanta, said in a statement. “This is most effective when they reach out for help shortly after they become delinquent on their mortgage payments.”
“We hope people concerned about foreclosure will call us for assistance at 800-251-2227,” Boas said.

There are good companies out there actually trying to help people. But unfortunately there are also bad ones that are trying to take advantage of the situations. I purchased 2 foreclosures and have been happy with my purchases.
