I will gladly provide this information which can be verified by ID. People that object are just like those people that object to having to show ID when they vote. What's the big deal? What are we hiding from.

I agree with Maria, I tired of living in this country of "Are My Papers in Order". Every time I travel (usually weekly) I'm reminded of some World War II flick or some "Cold War" flick where the Gestapo or KGB are stopping folks, intimidating them and checking their papers to make sure there "in order". What's next secret agents shadowing us through the airports and indiscriminately stopping us and asking us our business for being in a certain place. What's next, border crossings and guards at each State line and someone to check that your "papers are in order"?

lots of angry flyers today because they are fed up with dealing with security hassles, like having their shampoo confiscated because we might be blowin up da plane. whats another inconvenience gonna hurt, right. most jobs minimize flying now so not my problem as of the great recession/depression. maybe one day the airlines will make money but not until they have figured it out again. just waitin on high speed trains myself.
and don't blame the delta crew, they're just doing what the gov says......

mjay nailed it. Delta is incredibly inept in many things, and this is one of them. My middle name begins with an "I" (the letter after h) and I am the third, i.e. III as a suffix, so my name comes out LASTNAMEIIII, FIRSTNAME. Normally, I wouldn't care, but recently I have been asked to state my name as it appears on Delta's records. Since in my FF account it is one way, another way on my driver's license and the abomination above on my ticket, eyebrows get raised...just who are you sir?

More TSA-Government bureaucracy (costing us time and money) while providing no justifying details that this is even a problem or has a benefit. Like others, I have an apostrophe in my name leaving credit cards, frequent flier numbers, drivers licenses and YES airline tickets often incompatible matches. How do we vote No to these things?

1) Just another aspect in the charade of airline security
2) A new field for identity thieves to mine for information
3) Additional tracking information for the government

To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin:

~Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither

Sad that more people are concerned with updating their status on Twitter and Facebook than realizing their liberties are being eroded daily. Soon their status will be "Not Free"

Domestic travel restrictions, like having to provide your birthdate & gender before you are able to travel, are the hallmark of authoritarian states, not free nations. The KGB used domestic travel restrictions to suppress freedom. The TSA uses them in the name of safety. Is there really a difference?

Birth dates are part of the security to access retirement benefits, personal bank accounts, school records, and medical records. I am very concerned that this will heighten identity theft. I think a better solution would be to require people to register with the Transportation Security Administration on line, and get a security code or pin unique to the individual. The individual would use this code instead of their birth date.

I will just drive. I am not a terrorist and not a criminal and tired of being treated like one. The airlines will just lose my business. best to take more time and drive to see more of this beautiful country.
Guess I will stop building Delta miles..
