While AirTran is OK, I loathe their bag fee, on principle as well as pocketbook reasons. Ive even heard that their agents are unreasonably upsizing bags so they can upcharge. Complain and they say pay or get out of line, according to comments on other forums. Southwest doesnt seem to want to insult me with them in the first place. That would save me reasonable $$. In other words, I cant wait!

I used to be a die hard Delta fan; grew up with the airlines in my backyard. I would fly Southwest anytime anywhere over Delta or American. Delta and American you did it to yourselves. Southwest makes flying fun.

This is great news. I moved hear from a market that Southwest was serving. I was able to use their service many times. I have lived in the ATL for 7 years. I can’t wait for Southwest to move hear.

Competition is great, but the reality is that SWA will probably only serve Denver (Frontier’s current route) from ATL, as there is simply no gate space available in ATL for SWA to launch any sizable (or profitable) operation there. As much as some people may hate “evil” Delta, the fact is that Delta + AirTran = an uphill and futile battle for SWA (just ask Jetblue)…something SWA has to avoid in order to keep it’s fares low. No need to get your hopes up over an insignificant presence of SWA in ATL.

Originally a West Coaster here too, and SWA beats the pants off the local carriers. I hope the deal goes through, I’d love to fly SWA again!

I Fly Southwest most of the time. I would love to be able to fly from Chicago to Atlanta. Relative their would use Southwest also.

I live in South Miami and SW does not fly here. They do serve Fort Lauderdale, however, that’s a 50 mile drive for me. I’ve never flown on them but love the new 737’s they operate. It’s a great airplane. If they flew MIA – ATL I’d give them a shot. Plus, I’m not a fan of Richard Anderson.

Southwest would have the same issues as other airlines out of ATL, it’s the busiest airport, therefore, you have to expect delays. That said, the great customer service that SWA is famous for is due to it’s employees being treated with respect and being unionized. The employees are the face of the airline, and competitive wages and fair treatment by management makes a tough job so much better.If you don’t think it’s a tough job, I challenge you to pick up your bag to waist height all day long in 90 degree weather.
