Sunday’s story on the economy derailing mixed-use developments is worth taking a look at if you missed it.
AJC reporter Michelle Shaw gives an update about how local projects are faring and the outlook for the future.
The bottom line: Traffic congestion, one of the motivating factors, will outlive the recession. Many residents still will want to live more efficiently when the dust clears.
But the fallout from the recession is likely to last for quite some time, according to some. Bloated inventories of townhomes and condos could be a significant drag on the residential part of mixed-use projects.
