Three reflections on the economy

As you consider whether we need another economic stimulus package, there are three commentaries you might want to take a look at.

So far, the overwhelming majority of our blog voters oppose a second stimulus. So, here are two views that could bolster the pro-stimulus vote. (I won’t admit to election fraud.)

One is an interesting piece from former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich. He rhetorically asks when the recovery will begin. His answer is “never.”

The other is by Nobel Prize economist Paul Krugman. He writes that the Obama administration is caught in a “political-economic trap” over the stimulus.

On the other side of the issue is Edward Lazear, former chairman of President Bush’s Council of Economic Advisers. He has crafted a well-written article against the first and any second stimulus.
