Health-care reform seems to be inching a little closer.
The Associated Press is reporting that hospitals, the White House and key Senate Democrats are close to a deal to reduce anticipated payments to hospitals from Medicare and Medicaid by about $155 billion over a decade. The government then would be free to use the money to help provide health coverage to millions who now lack it.
A deal on this issue could be announced as early as Wednesday, AP said.
This is one of several hurdles that have to be cleared for reform to happen this year.
