Lone Star Governor May Become All-Star Candidate

Anyone who watched the Republican presidential debate last Monday evening understands why there clearly is room for at least one more candidate – someone who is a proven conservative who can appeal to both the establishment GOP and to Tea Party activists. That potential candidate just might hail from the very same state that gave the country its last Republican president, the conservative-in-name-only (“CINO”) George W. Bush.

Already, the GOP has several candidates; each appealing to a particular segment or segments of the Party. Ron Paul clearly appeals to the libertarian wing. Former Gov. Mitt Romney’s obvious appeal is to the Republican establishment. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann excites the Tea Party faction. Rick Santorum is a darling of evangelical Right-to-Lifers. Businessman Herman Cain has a small, but perhaps growing following among Tea Partiers. Former Gov. Tim Pawlenty enjoys support scattered among establishment types and some Tea Party activists; but is not yet a comfortable fit in either camp. Finally, there is former Speaker Newt Gingrich, fighting desperately for recognition as the Thinking Man’s Republican candidate.

Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman will announce his candidacy tomorrow; but other than perhaps posing challenging Romney as the most handsome male candidate, it is unclear exactly where he will find a strong base of support in the GOP. Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, who should be on the stage challenging Paul for the libertarian-leaning voters within the GOP, was unfairly not invited to the debate.

Still on the sidelines is Sarah Palin, who has a proven ability to excite both the Tea Party wing of the GOP and many grass roots Republican activists (but not necessarily the establishment crowd). The longer she waits to decide to become a candidate, however, the less she will be able to translate that personal appeal into primary voters (who increasingly will be sopped up by declared candidates).

Enter Rick Perry, the sitting Governor of Texas; who, with his rugged good looks and even more impressive record as chief executive of the country’s second most populace state, could pose the most serious challenge yet to every other Republican candidate. Unlike other Republican candidates, Perry’s appeal would be both wide and deep.

His conservative-libertarian credentials are well-known; as reflected, for example, is his having received high marks from both the libertarian-leaning Cato Institute, and from the establishment Wall Street Journal.

Perry has been vocal on the need to restore the Bill of Right’s Tenth Amendment, which is designed to protect state sovereignty on issues not expressly tasked to the federal government. He is on record in favor of repealing the income-tax-authorizing Sixteenth Amendment; and his record of support for the Second Amendment is outstanding.

Even more important than Perry’s philosophical credentials, are the very tangible fiscal accomplishments to which he legitimately can claim credit. From June 2009 to April this year, while states from California to Georgia have suffered high unemployment and significant job losses, some 265,300 jobs have been added to Texas’ employment rolls; accounting for “45% of net U.S. job creation” in that period, according to the Wall Street Journal.

This impressive fiscal and job-creation scenario has not happened by chance. As Richard Fisher, chairman of the Dallas Federal Reserve, noted, Texas’ success can be attributed to “reject[ing] the economic model that now prevails in Washington.” What better platform for a head-to-head with President Barack Obama?

Rick Perry just may be the GOP’s right man in the right place – and for the right reasons. His actual record offers hope that were he to run and be successful in challenging Obama in November 2012, he would be a far better president than the last one hailing from Texas. Rick Perry clearly is not a CINO.

His 2009 secession comments are going to be enough to lose him independents and establishment-type folks.

This impressive fiscal and job-creation scenario has not happened by chance.

Neither has their huge government deficits that they’re struggling to overcome by cutting education spending.

Just (another) GOP “right man in the right place”.

Why on earth is Bob Barr promoting Rick Perry when there’s a perfectly good conservative-libertarian in the race? Ron Paul has wide appeal to both real conservatives and libertarians, something that is very hard to accomplished. I’d like to see Mr. Barr using this column to promote the only real conservative and libertarian in this race, Ron Paul.

You licked the stain off Monica’s dress and posted the porn details on the internet while you smoked the cigar. Thanks to Clinton’s ability to multi-task…he was still able to balance the budget and had huge surpluses.
Of course Clinton had to veto the republicans attempts to cut taxes for the wealthy. He knew they would create the massive deficits that we now have…thanks to that voo doo economic theory aka “trickle down” economics that Bush and republican congress gave us. You fail again….LOSER

Perry may cause a problem to the ever widning field of GOP (or wahtever the title is these days), but the larger issue is defeating a President that has a plan that appeals to most Americans. The folly of the Republicans is that they only appeal to their particular faction and not to the citizenry as whole. The continued embrace of far right extremist and the now apparent bait and switch of now elected Republicans, have wrankled those who casted their vote for the GOP and now having buyer’s remorse. Americans, by and large, have woken up and are tired of the obvious cow-towing too big business, banks, and whoever else lines the pockets of the GOP. Weiner may have resigned for his personal flaws, but his statement that, “…the Republican Party is a wholly owned subsidiary of Big Business (sic) and the Banking and Insurance industry..,” still resonates. And sadly, the GOP embraces that approach while thinly trying to veil it.

Join the race Mr. Perry, so the country can watch the continued deconstruction of GOP selfishness and childlike behavior.

Just saying…

Or if coal ash from fossil fuel plants leach in to your ground water…or nuclear waste for that matter..? Or hydraulic fracturing fluids..? As long as people have a job..? As Ron Paul correctly said, Perry will just carve up the status quo vote. Everyone in the race basically supports some version of government that will tell me how to live my life or will tell the world how to live theirs – except of course Ron Paul.

So yes, let Rick join the party. The more these statist clowns open their mouths, the more obvious it is becomming to everyone that there is only one unique candidate that is willing to tell the truth and offer up REAL solutions to the nation’s problems (and who have voted consistently for the past 30 years in congress as well).

Perry is another Republican who gets by on his looks like Dan Quayle, Sarah Palin and Scott Brown. This is the jerk who said that it would be a good idea to have a gunfight in the state capitol and talked about seceding as if it were a serious idea. He’s also a creationist and has talked about solving the nation’s economic problems with a national prayer meeting.

He thinks he needs a “snake gun” to go jogging in Austin where you’ll never see a poisonous snake, and he’s sticking the taxpayers of Texas for an apartment that costs $10,000 per month while the governor’s mansion is renovated. This is at a time when the state has an $11 billion budget shortfall.

This is what comes of electing an Aggie cheerleader with a degree in animal science governor.

The problem with so many of the wanna be’s is that they don’t really have a plan to address the problems. We have been cutting taxes ad infinitum and ad naseum and what we get is a short burst of job creation with no sustainable growth. All the tax cuts have led to top 20% getting 60% of the income each year, as opposed to 50% of the income in the early 1980s. In addition, wealth concentration is the highest it has been since the Great depression – and since the measures I have seen were before the Bush Recession, I have to wonder if we haven’t now met the statistics of the Great Depression. The elimination of the inheritance tax will affect 0.6% (that is six tenths of one percent) of estates and reduce federal taxes by $1 trillion between 2012 and 2022 – that is just the tax on the estates, not the value of the estates. All the corporate tax cuts have not reduced the outsourcing of jobs overseas and now U.S. companies want another tax break to repatriate the profits they derived from their overseas ventures.

A good idea carried to an extreme becomes a caricature of itself. And that is where we are with tax cuts to the wealthy and tax cuts to corporations. Those tax cuts did not make the U.S. a better place for most of us – it just made the wealthy wealthier. If we lose the middle class, and it has been stagnate or bearly growing for 30 years, we lose the dynamism of the economy.

I want to hear solutions to the health care problem – not just turning it over to the insurance industry which, after 50 years of virtually controlling the health care market, have proven they can’t deliver health care at a reasonable cost. I want an end to farm subsidies for rich farmers. I want an investment in future energy research – Germany has jobs for their people because the government invested in solar research. I do believe in government working to make things better for all of us – not just the wealthy.

As for the health care plan, there have been quite a few articles showing that more people like Obama’s health care plan that don’t like it. Of course, conservatives will keep trying to convince the public that everyone hates it. And if your really thing that people like Bachmann, Palin, Gingrich, or anybody else from the GOP will improve this country, then you sir are the one who is delusional.

Also, let’s keep in mind that the American public is having a severe case of voter’s remorse when it comes to the GOP. In the midterm elections, plenty of people got suckered into drinking the Republican kool-aid when the candidates started talking about how they were going to create jobs and improve the economy. Now that the GOP folks are in office, they are doing the exact opposite of that. They are hellbent on enforcing their ideology everybody, and it’s having negative results. Governors like Scott Walker, John Kasich, and Rick Perry are extremely unpopular right now, and there are recall efforts going on in several states. Sadly, this is what happens when you don’t do your research on the candidates or you don’t vote at all.

If you want insane deficits, look at Obozo’s own state of Illinois. Texas is NOTHING compared to that cess pool.

Oh, and call him all the names you want but it still doesn’t change the fact that he’s a two time elected governor.

“Also, let’s keep in mind that the American public is having a severe case of voter’s remorse when it comes to the GOP. ”

No they’re not and you have absolutely nothing to back up that lie.

“Now that the GOP folks are in office, they are doing the exact opposite of that.”

They’re doing exactly what they were put in office to do. Cut the spending and end entitlements. SEE: WISCONSIN

The right’s ideas are winning

So the state’s deficit is fixed, its finances are honest for the first time in about a decade, public services are trimmed but not decimated and no taxpayers were skinned to make it happen. All in all, it’s been a good week for Wisconsin, especially its hard-pressed, middle-class taxpayers.

And, if I might get political, the first six months of the Age of Walker have left conservatism in a surprisingly solid condition in Wisconsin.

Bad news for Obama cult followers.

Whirling economics
As panic sets in, Obama spins from one vague idea to another

PANIC IS not a pretty thing. The Obama administration may not be there just yet, but a steady drumbeat of bad economic news pushes it closer every week. In Ohio the president talked about giving money to automakers, in North Carolina he talked about giving money to “green” companies, and recently he proposed yet another payroll tax holiday. Call it the “whirling dervish” approach to economic policy — frantically spinning from one constituency to another, dispensing subsidies, and hoping something works.

Perry is a Globalist shill…as evident by his attendance of the Bilderberg conference in 2008 & his push of the Trans-Texas Corridor (NAFTA Superhighway). In addition, he endorsed CINO/RINO (9/11 profiteer) Rudy “Ghouliani” for POTUS in ‘08. Perry would also gladly serve as AIPAC’s errand boy (as most NeoCONs).

Romney having performed in his state as though he were Obama Lite with the Romneycare enacted there CANNOT be permitted to become our nominee for the presidency for next year. At least Perry has a proven record as a true conservative who is pro-life, whose state has excelled in job creation and will thereby bring new hope for getting America back on track in these important areas. Bring him on to the forefront of the Republican candidacy 2012 pack – maybe there is our next great leader along the lines of the next Reagan!

I am strong supporter of Atlanta’s own Herman Cain. I think Herman is exactly what America needs right now. That being said, unlike many who are passionate about politics, I can be a realist as well. Rick Perry has a much more likely chance to defeat Obama and is a far better choice than just about every other candidate running, aside from Herman and possibly Newt. Ron Paul makes sense on some issues but is on the fringe with some of his libertarian positions (fringe positions that keep the Libertarian Party from gaining more traction than it does at a time when the GOP leans too far to the center). Romney is just Obama Lite and I am not so sure that Pawlenty is not in the same mold. Bachmann would be a good choice but I just cannot see her as electable – the media would be sure of that. So Rick Perry could well be the guy that we need to right this ship and get Obama back to Illinois. Some better because I am not sure that America can be viable in the long term if we don’t stop these Democrats cold in their tracks.

I worked for Bob Barr for President in 2008 as the Central Illinois coordinator for the LP, am very impressed by the progress Bob Barr has made, first on the war in Iraq, and most recently against DOMA (I heard him speak against his own bill at the National Log Cabin Republican Convention). Having said that, I must respectfully disagree with his praise of Rick Perry. Rick Perry was a Democrat in 1988 who supported Al Gore for President (!!!!!). At this point you’d had numerous Republicans getting elected in Texas to Federal office as far back as the 1960s (John Tower as a Senator, GHWBush, Ed Foreman etc. as Congressmen), and by the late 1970s for statewide office (Clements as Governor). So what took Perry so long? Moreover, Rick Perry was trying to push gardasil (an anti-HPV drug) on nine-year-old girls because the company that made gardasil had given him campaign contributions. So Perry managed to unite the religious right and libertarians against him. So much for him being someone who could “unite” the GOP. I suspect his dealings with trying to get foreign companies to run our tollroads are yet another financial corruption scandal waiting to happen, see the greater light of day, etc. Perhaps this is why he is more popular outside our state than within it.

The job of being President of the U.S. is too large for any one man/woman. There should be a triumpative. Three people should share the presidency. My choice, would be HILLARY cLINTON, Someone who represents the ideaLS OF aBRAHAM lINCOLN and a represenative from the gay coalition,, possibly Barney Frank. Now, this group will have no trouble working together. The only alternative would be a supercomputer, that makes complex decisions in microseconds. Now, there you have it, do you really think that the lightning changes in the world are within the capabilities, I think not. As for all the pretty faces, ruggedly handsome candidates, none could face up to a ugly forceful person who does not take no for an answer.

Robert Edward Johnson, good insight & points on Globalist pawn Perry. I know quite a few Texans, & none are fans of “Slick” Rick. His pro-eugenics mandating of (tainted) Gardasil is another red flag. He pushed very hard for the NAFTA/NASCO Superhighway/TTC. In 2005, Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte (Cintra) was named strategic partner of the State of TX for development the TTC.

Rick Perry is a Bilderberger and a globalist. He is not a TRUE Conservative. He tried to get the Trans Texas Corridor built to connect Mexico, the US and Canada to form the North American Union. He is of the same ilk as Bush Sr., Bush Jr. and Obama. These are just the globalist puppets folks. They are the front men for the Powers that Be. If you haven’t yet done your research – check out Club of Rome, Bilderbergers, Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission. Until you have read up on these groups – you should not cast a vote. There is no left/right in America anymore – it is an illusion. We are being pitted against each other to further a globalist Agenda.

People should know that Gov. Perry is just a career politician. The poster boy for partisan politics..
He is in the machine of Texas politics.
His record is not good at all. We are in debt. Our schools system is getting trashed because he
won’t let go of his “Rainy Day Fund”.and he makes decisions for the University of Texas that don’t
serve them well at all. Too many cronies to reward. Please check into his record. Not what he
says he’s done. The only reason he got elected again is not that people wanted him but the was
better than the other choice. He doesn’t have the support of most Texans.

Ask him about foreign affairs. Solutions for our problems. Think about it.
