And Mr. Little, you sir are a hypocrite. yes smoking is bad, and letting kids eat packaged artery blockers at McDonalds is no better. I don’t see any Big Mac bans but they still got that good old Happy Meal. Air pollution, water pollution and nearly every product that gets FDA approval causes cancer 10 years later.

And let us not forget the exclusion of menthol FLAVOR or the fact that 90% of all cigarette tobacco is mixed with licorice to mellow the taste. Both flavors. Menthol excluded but licoice is mentioned as one of the banned flavors. Therefore making 90% of all cigarette tobacco already illagal only Philip Morris who helped pen the law for competition and greed doesn’t print that ingredient on its packages. I wish a lawyer would use that against the commies in federal court. See how fast that ban lifts when the parties that be see the monetery loss if Big Tobacco went under because of their own two left feet.

There are only two groups of people still left smoking, the truly stupid and the massively ignorant. When was the last time an adult started smoking because he “heard good things” about it. This is an addiction that is acquired during childhood and it is still being pushed that way, despite laws to the contrary. If you smoke, you are stupid, if you smoke around others, you are rude, but if you smoke in the same house, or car, with a child, you are a child abusing pig. Lets legislate this stupidity out of existence and have smokers pointed at, laughed at and ridiculed in public by children. Make them the pariah they actually already are, until this disgusting, addictive and deadly habit is crushed to death.

I agree the government is not needed here. If Americans want to smoke they should have the freedom to do so.

However, their rights stop at the tip of my nose. Because we now know that secondary smoke can cause the same type of cancer the smoker themselves sometimes get, I should be able to defend myself when a cloud of that crap works its way into my personal space. And because the ramifications of this secondary smoke can be lethal, I should be able to defend myself as my life depends on it, i.e. firearm, mace, ball bat, etc.

There is no need for the government here.

This is not about smoking. This is about government control of everything. The more control they take, the easier it gets. Take away a liberty here, a freedom there. Pretty soon it becomes an accepted fact of life that government has the right to do whatever they wish.

It amuses me that people say the health care reform will lead to government control of the health care industry. How on earth can they reform an entire industry unless they already control that industry. Any time the government proposes reforms to an industry, they are assuming they control that industry. Does anyone think an insurance company, or hospital, or Doctor can say “no thanks” to the reforms. There is no opt out except to go out of business.

So next year when they decide to ban fast food, or pickup trucks, or soft drinks, it will be a little bit easier.

So, no doubt everyone who is against government regulation of tobacco (a drug with no medical value, which if used as recommended can kill you) would also be against government regulation of other drugs such as marijuana?

What everyone is missing in this is the little fact that’s being left out of all of this: Philip Morris Inc. had a hand in this ban. Why didn’t menthol cigarettes get banned, too? Philip Morris. Big tobacco is big money and there’s no way that the government wants to lose the kickbacks from the likes of the biggest tobacco company in the nation. The ban was announced and PM comes out with what? A new brand of menthol cigs called Blend 54. It is, with no pun intended, a smoke screen. They’re not trying ‘to protect children’. There’s trying to monopolize. Big brother is always watching…and they have big friends looking to beat your lunch money out of you.
