Nonsens? Let me know how you would rank them? You think the 20% or so of the US population living below the poverty limit agree with you that USA is the best place in the world to live? I am Norwegian and happens to agree that Norway is a lot better to live in than USA, or Somalia, or a lot of other countries on the list. Suggest you refrain from non-constructive critisism unless you have a better alternative up you sleeves. At the very best, shut up.

As you are "Freely" going about your business Bob, if a policeman ask for your papers, you WILL produce them. It is law now.
If you do not comply, you may join the world's largest incarcerated population.
But, you are not doing anything wrong, so there is nothing to worry about , right?

I haven't seen the report nor do I expect to but, from what Mr. Bob Barr, a great american, said above, the whole nonsense should be completely dismissed because of the first name mentioned as an endorser.....Jimmy Carter....this man is totally and completely irrelevent and a "Nut" job besides that.

Well, the wingnuts are well-armed and trigger-happy. Any wingnutter looney-tune can get their hands on enough guns and bullets to take out a score of people at the local post office or grocery store because they think the liquor tax is too high, or they wouldn't take their food stamps.

They're shooting people in churches, getting arrested for threatening to kill Obama and now Sotamayor, and buying up all the guns and bullets they can get their greasy paws on. They cheerlead a war where over 100,000 innocent civilians have been slaughtered. And they are fervent believers in Armageddon and they deeply desire to see the end of the world. I'm surprised we ranked as high as we did.

US: Indicator information

Respect for human rights… 3

Level 3. Imprisonment for political activity is more extensive. Politically-motivated executions or other political murders and brutality are common. Unlimited detention, with or without a trial, for political views is also commonplace;

Hmmm, wonder why this elitists group of global pontificators gave the U.S. a level 3 assignment for the respect of human rights?

No doubt Carter, Douglas and Turner would immediately respond with GITMO as the reason behind the level 3 assignment?

Otherwise they have a very bogus claim. Even with that said, that one particular of GITMO is problematic when taking into account our U.S. Constitution has no clearly established article to address the "special case" presented by “radical terrorists” like those now held in GITMO.

True enough, the bill of rights is for all practical intents and purposes human rights amendments. However, given the nature of radical Islamic terrorists and what we know of them Bob Barr, would we defend the right of say, Osama Bin Laden to bear arms?

Also extend to a, Osama Bin Laden, as well as others of his ilk the same rights of privacy under the 4th amendment?

More and more I’m beginning to believe it may be time to call for a Constitutional Convention. Between a Federal government that has overreached its’ Constitutional mandates often intruding upon the reserved Rights of the States and a world that has finally exceeded even our founding forefathers amazing abilities to fathom the ages beyond the measure of their times, their unquestionable order indeed may need a realigning.

Judging from our founding forefather’s prerogatives based on their treatment of the British loyalists during the revolution they would have probably either executed or exiled these GITMO detainees by this time. Without any doubt they would have brought the GITMO detainees to trail long before now, notwithstanding their frequent paradoxes of no less measure than presently our own.

Is the line between liberty and tyranny too vague in a world now often found in the grey?
