Best pizza

Yes, it’s that time again. Let’s talk about pizza.

It’s been almost two-and-a-half years since we last asked about pizza in Atlanta, so we definitely need to update this one.

It’s said that even when it’s bad, it’s still pretty good. But why eat bad pizza when there’s so much good stuff out there? First, we need to know where to find that amazing pizza. That’s where you come in. Whether it’s thin and crispy or thick and chewy, we want to hear about your favorite place for a slice (or a whole pie).

Tell us your pick for the best place to get pizza in and around Atlanta, and what makes it so special.

If its a gas or electric oven, forget about it….It HAS to be made of brick,& inside a real fire blazing & rotated as needed!!!Then & only then do you have REAL PIZZA.In all of Georgia, the next best is Mamas in Alpharetta,,& Gondelier in Woodstock..hands down..but still no brick oven!!!

S & J’s is also good. They have a wood burning oven on a trailer and can be found at farmer’s markets and festivals.

Great NY style pizza. Thin, great firm crust, fantastic taste!

Fantastic deals on Monday and Tuesday.

Mama’s Pizza in Alpharetta is the best Pie around. Honestly it is not even close. The sauce makes me feel like I am in New York City. Check it out.

I wouldn’t serve Mama’s Pizza in Alpharetta to my dog.

Did you all get coupons for a free pizza, or is this one waiter with a lot of time on his hands?

Mellow Mushroom, hands down! The most fresh, authentic pizza, the most fantastic service, the most vegetarian-friendly products of any pizza place – which is not only humane but “Green!” And though all the MMs are great – of all the ones we have tried, the Conyers restaurant outdoes themselves, as well as everyone else!

Now if you want to go back into the “good old days of yore,” no one could hold a candle to “The Upper Crust” in Buckhead. We still miss ‘em, not to mention the nearby Oxford Books! But I digress. : )

It was Franco’s Italian Tavern in Crabapple until the abruptly shut down with no explanation. With their demise – my vote would now be for Brooklyn Joe’s. I havehigh hopes for Campania Pizza that is slated to open in March in Alpharetta.

I like Johnny’s in Fayetteville. Good pizza, and the owner actively supports Boy Scouts in the local area. The owner has even brought a pizza oven down to Camp Thunder and baked pizza for all the kids.

Mama’s Pizza is it! Unlike these other chain locations that mass produce the same manufactured recipe with cooks that haven’t been raised in New York, Jimmy and Pop at Mama’s Pizza have grown up & lived there; had pizza shops there and brought the flavor, ingredients and environment down here with them! You’ve got to taste it and you’ll know the difference!

Mama’s Pizza in Alpharetta will always get my vote fot the best of all. My family has enjoyed Mama’s since 1979 in all its moves from Roswell to the present location on Old Milton Pky..The original cheese reminds me so much of the pizza parlor my parents would take us to in South Philly when I grew up in the suburbs there.

Any place that has to coat their crust with garlic butter/margarine and cheap parm (i.e. Mellow Mushroom) is a joke.
