Alpha Soda in Alpharetta. Order form the Daily specials menu. LOTS of choices for sides.
London Broil, Glorified Chicken, corned beef & cabbage are good. Call ahead if you want the fried chicken (which is the best north of the perimeter). IMO – the chicken & dumplings recipe needs to be replaced. Summer time tomatoes are awesome too.

i would assume who ever says mary macs must not be from GA cause that place is not all that on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being the best I give it a 3 mediocre food the service is great that is why i would go back cant get that in to many places in GA anyway moving on…. Busy Bee is old time slop not that good either…Will someone please recommend some good and new for us Atliens to try cause the places listed above is old news and tasteless but most have good service not there for the service there for the food good service is a bonus to that!

Better dining: Greenwoods for farm to table fresh goodies. The good deal: BBQ Kitchen on Virgina Avenue near the airport. Homemade stuff and 2nds if you like on veggies. Best biscuits and tea. Yes, the tea is an indicator as to whether the place is for real or not. I like the Colonnade, but some things are hit or miss. Atmosphere is old Atlanta, prior to 1990.

AJC – You guys seriously need to do a “Best of Atlanta” and a “Best of the Suburbs”. Require all submissions for Atlanta to be ITP. In no way do Covington, Alpharetta or Norcross qualify as Atlanta.

Little House Cafe on Marietta or Mary Mac’s, but there really isn’t any really good country cookin inside the perimeter that I’ve found. You gotta go out in the sticks to get the good stuff.
You people that like Carver’s grocery must be used to eating food out of a can.

PSA: If you travel to Florida for spring break, take exit 18 in Valdosta and go to “Old Time”. You will truly experience southern cooking. There’s one in Macon, but it doesn’t compare to the one in Valdosta.

I’ve been to Carver’s twice. I’m sorry, but I really wonder where the lover’s of Carver’s grew up? Has to be New England or waaaaay out west. Busy Bee and Mary Mac’s make Carver’s look like a frozen meal. I’m sorry. Nice folks over there, but they can’t hold a candle to either of those two. Honorable mention to Colannade…if for nothing more than the atmosphere.

I agree A Little This A Little that hands down. Lewis Wilkins, the owner, knows all the customers by name. He serves up nice sized portions, and uses fresh vegetables, and real CHEESE for his mac and cheese. His cornbread recipe is a family secret (it’s simply delicious). The coolest thing is that he also caters so you can serve his food for weddings, family reunions, or office parties. The only thing he does not serve is banana puddin’! Little this A Little That is: ALL THAT!

Last two times at Mary Macs, food was decent but the service was terrible and we had out of town guests! Will never go back after eating there for 25 years. The Whistle Stop in Kennesaw is good and the service is great! Carol’s Cafe at Bells Ferry and Barrett Parkway is good.

The Barbecue Kitchen on Virginia Avenue — we’ve been going there for 30 years, and they’ve always been good. The vegetables are fresh, chosen from what’s available at the farmer’s market. We see the local constabulary whenever we’re there, which says a lot about the quality of the restaurant.
