The AJC dining team’s specialist in Southern and Neighborhood Fare Jenny Turknett says, “While truffle oil may be passé now, my favorite fries are the truffle- parmesan fries at JCT Kitchen. Great crispy fries with a soft interior dressed with true white truffle oil and parmesan shavings, it doesn’t get much better than that.”

YO! I am from France so I know french fries. Atlanta fries are not as good as the ones where I am from but Checkers has the closest fries to the real ones in France hands down.

Flip Burger has the best. They are crispy fried in beef tallow with shaved salt and parsley. Runner up is Joey Ds. They are big steak style and so creamy inside. They taste best with their homemade Russian dressing. Rounding out is Gordon Biersch with tons of garlic!

Steak N Shake, followed by Sonny’s. McDonald’s, if fresh, has slipped to 3rd.

I hit the Village Burger in Dunwoody at least 3 times a week, their fries are unbelievably good, and apparently not too bad for your weight and cholesterol (cooked in 100% peanut oil), I weigh 170 lbs and last cholesterol check was 87 total. My cardiologist thinks I’m eating “right”, but I know I’m eating at the right place!

I know one thing. If someone gave me fries like those pictured, I would throw them in the trash without even tasting them. Those look like “regurgitated fries”!

Barkers Red Hots — They have deep cut crinkle cut fries that grab the ketchup. They wash the fries with vinegar and just the right anount of salt. The best part is they cook every single fry to order so they are hot andf crispy. It is the one, two punch Great dogs and Great fries.
