OUR PICKS
1. Brandi’s World Famous Hot Dogs
The AJC dining team’s Popular Eats specialist Jon Watson says, “Open only for lunch, you will always find this small diner-style hot dog shop in Marietta packed to the brim with regulars, and for good reason. Their spicy chili dogs are the epitome of a Georgia-style hot dog, and the best that I’ve had in the city.”

If a hotdog was 100% beef wouldn’t it be a hamburger? If you are obese go to the Varsity. Gross

Barkers would be even better if they toasted or heated their buns and had tator tots as a side.

It ain’t fancy, but I gotta have Varsity chili dogs and would pick over any “gourmet” dog I’ve enjoyed over the years.

When I think about a hot dog I think Yellow Jacket. Growing up that was a treat from my grandmother that lived on Northdise Drive. Two Chili dogs with the origianl Coke in the small bottle. The Yellow Jacket was always better thank the Varsity. MARV is that the original

DUH! The Varsity has no equal. I haven’t eaten warm-blooded animals in 13 years, but still remember the V’s chili dogs – ymmmm.

For veggie dogs, at home unfortunately, since I haven’t found any place that serves veggie dogs, the regular size Smart Dogs are almost identical to most hot dogs. Love them.

Barkers Red Hots. How can you beat a hot dog or sausage cooked over real charcoal? You simply cannot. Steaming or boiling a dog pulls the flavor out. Check out their Royal Italian Sausage it is unbelievable. Their fries and onion rings are to die for. I used to go to them while I was a student at GSU. They started as Atlanta’s first licensed street vendor downtown 28 years ago. With street food so popular today they were way ahead of their time. They cook everything to order so you will have wait but it is worth it. The staff is wonderful.

Had to check out Brandi’s – cheap low quality hot dogs. I guess the people of Marietta just want to fill their bellies.
