You say, “Being from Chicago, I am used to gyros that are packed so high with meat that you have to eat half the meat before you can make a sandwich out of it, and Christos does it just like that. I honestly think Christos has even better gyros than the ones I used to get when I lived up north.” and “Wonderful, mouthwatering meat and the best dressing you will ever have. Yummo!”

The AJC dining team’s Popular Eats specialist Jon Watson says, “Cafe Agroa, with its friendly and eccentric owner, consistently serves up my favorite gyro in town. While the prices seem to change depending on the day of the week, a trip to Buckhead for one of these no-fuss, classic gyros is certainly worth it.”

The gyro at Cafe Sababa tastes fresher than other’s I have tried. I think it has to do with the mint and the feta cheese. Also, the meat is moister than others. The tzatziki sauce is great too. http://www.cafesababa.net

Falafel Cafe near Life College off Cobb Pkwy, this is a hidden gem. It is in the back on the bottom of a strip center behind the Waffle House. They call themselves a Persian Cafe, but I dont care what you call it… it is some of the best Gyros (as well as anything else on the menu) I have ever had. The owner is a Great guy too.
Next runner up would be Nick’s on Whitlock in Marietta. Theirs is the Greek version, REALLY tasty. All their Greek stuff is Authentic.

Two places immediately pop to mind…Grecian Gyro in Tucker is always good. However Fresh 4 U Mediterranean Cafe directly across the street from Piedmont Hospital is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. I really cannot say enough for this little spot with always freshly prepared Mediterranean cusine and an awesome gyro sandwich. My wife delivered both our almost 3 yo duaghter and 1 yo son at Piedmont and this place was highly recommended by the nurses both times (I had two gyros in the same day from there after the birth of my daughter).

After being a dedicated customer for twenty years (at their old place on Delk Road & current place on Terrel Mill) I will never go back to Christo’s. They literally were treated my grandmother horribly. Made her wait 30 minutes only then to tell her that they didn’t have her food in stock. When she tried to order something else, they didn’t have that either. The waiter admitted he should’ve told us thirty minutes prior and Christo himself was there. After the entire fiasco they insisted we pay for our appetizer. His brother (may he rest in peace) was a fantastic man. He would’ve never treated a customer, much less someone 90 years old that way! So disappointed…

The best place in town to get the Gyro is BY FAR Athens Pizza in Decatur, off Clairmont Rd. I travel to Atlanta often for work and no matter where I am in conjunction to Athens Pizza, I ALWAYS stop to eat there. The authentic feel of being in Greece combined with the amazing taste of food is out of this world. The Gyro that Mrs. P. makes is just like the ones I eat when I travel abroad to Greece. Not to mention the other dishes in the restaurant are top notch. I highly recommend the Gyro at ATHENS PIZZA to anyone in the Atlanta area. If I can travel from Florida just to eat one, then you should make the 25 minute drive to try it for yourself!!!

Christos in Marietta off of Terrell Mill and Powers Ferry Rd has the best gyros in Atlanta without a question. Being from Chicago, I am used to gyros that are packed so high with meat that you have to eat half the meat before you can make a sandwich out of it, and Christos does it just like that. I honestly think Christos has even better gyros than the ones I used to get when I lived up north. My fiance and I eat here a few times a month. It’s family owned and the customer service is top notch!

This is really funny…Kouzina Christos has been blasting this link on FB every chance they can get…hence, all the nominations.
While they are the best choice OTP and in the Cobb area, the best gyro around is Grecian Gyro…the original is on Virginia Ave. in Hapeville, they have several outposts as well. I’ve never had a gyro that is so consistent. Having lived in Greektown in Detroit for awhile, I have to say it’s the closest true greek gyro around. The tzatziki sauce has it’s own flair & is consistent (they will sell you bottles of it and their greek dressing), the meat is flavorful and juicy and the price is right on.

Kouzina Christos! It’s the same people as Christos, which I saw someone say closed. It’s a new place on Powers Ferry Road in the same plaza as the new LA Fitness. Their desserts are also to die for! Bourbon flavored Gelato and some of the best baklava I’ve ever had. The owner reccomended we try Galaktoboureko, which was one of the other desserts. It was incredibly tasty!

Gyromaniac
October 11th, 2012
9:01 pm
The “Gyromaniac” casts his vote for BLU! There is no better Gyro ingredient-wise. Fresh-made pita (not the frozen kind) Fresh cut romaine, tomatoes, onions, feta and carrot peel tzatziki, hand-made Donner-style beef & Lamb Gyro meat and Persian-style chicken Gyro, (again not the frozen kind). The Tzatziki sauce is made from non-fat strained Greek yogurt (made in house). All Veggies used including the fries are hand-cut Farmer’s Market, local produce! Olive oil, olives, Feta and Tahini used in BLU’s sandwiches are imported gourmet products from Greece and the surrounding region. If you want “packaged” or mall-style food go everywhere else but if you are looking for quality in a fast-food product category such as the Gyro nooks we are all used to you only have one choice: BLU!
If you want great taste without 90% saturated fats and preservatives; you really only have one option: BLU!

Makara’s on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. Truly fantastic tzatziki, great gyro, and their falafel is even better than their gyro. What a Malaka! “Pumping up their vote on their facebook”? Social Media is there to promote, inquire and more importantly connect with their fans! Yes they are posting it on their facebook page…they should be! Let’s not be so ignorant.. it’s their “FAN” page for crying out loud. If any business is NOT “pumping” their product or services to their FANS then that’s their loss. Let’s face it… if their fans don’t want to participate and express their opinions then that is THEIR choice. With that being said… CHRISTOS still has the best, authentic gyro around. Chalk one up for another pump from their fans….Malaka.
