YOUR PICKS
1. Kouzina Christos
You say, “Being from Chicago, I am used to gyros that are packed so high with meat that you have to eat half the meat before you can make a sandwich out of it, and Christos does it just like that. I honestly think Christos has even better gyros than the ones I used to get when I lived up north.” and “Wonderful, mouthwatering meat and the best dressing you will ever have. Yummo!”

OUR PICKS

The AJC dining team’s Popular Eats specialist Jon Watson says, “Cafe Agroa, with its friendly and eccentric owner, consistently serves up my favorite gyro in town. While the prices seem to change depending on the day of the week, a trip to Buckhead for one of these no-fuss, classic gyros is certainly worth it.”

Blu at the square has the best Greek food in the metro. AJC top 50 2 years in a row. I like their Gyro but their lamb burger is the best!

The “Gyromaniac” casts his vote for BLU! There is no better Gyro ingredient-wise. Fresh-made pita (not the frozen kind) Fresh cut romaine, tomatoes, onions, feta and carrot peel tzatziki, hand-made Donner-style beef & Lamb Gyro meat and Persian-style chicken Gyro, (again not the frozen kind). The Tzatziki sauce is made from non-fat strained Greek yogurt (made in house). All Veggies used including the fries are hand-cut Farmer’s Market, local produce! Olive oil, olives, Feta and Tahini used in BLU’s sandwiches are imported gourmet products from Greece and the surrounding region. If you want “packaged” or mall-style food go everywhere else but if you are looking for quality in a fast-food product category such as the Gyro nooks we are all used to you only have one choice: BLU!
If you want great taste without 90% saturated fats and preservatives; you really only have one option: BLU!

Christo’s in Marietta is the leading Gyro establishment on Yelp in Atlanta for a reason!

It’s simply the best around, hands down.

Makara’s on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. Truly fantastic tzatziki, great gyro, and their falafel is even better than their gyro. It’s not somewhere you go for the ambiance (we’re talking gyros here, not fine cuisine), and they don’t have a Facebook group pumping up the vote, but it is truly excellent food.

What a Malaka! “Pumping up their vote on their facebook”? Social Media is there to promote, inquire and more importantly connect with their fans! Yes they are posting it on their facebook page…they should be! Let’s not be so ignorant.. it’s their “FAN” page for crying out loud. If any business is NOT “pumping” their product or services to their FANS then that’s their loss. Let’s face it… if their fans don’t want to participate and express their opinions then that is THEIR choice. With that being said… CHRISTOS still has the best, authentic gyro around. Chalk one up for another pump from their fans….Malaka.

I have tried most of the Gyro places in and around the metro area. As far as Gyros go, I like Christos in Marietta but for an original style Greek tavern like in Piraeus Greece, BLU off the Marietta square is the closest and actually better than most taverns in Athens.
