YOUR PICKS
1. Kouzina Christos
You say, “Being from Chicago, I am used to gyros that are packed so high with meat that you have to eat half the meat before you can make a sandwich out of it, and Christos does it just like that. I honestly think Christos has even better gyros than the ones I used to get when I lived up north.” and “Wonderful, mouthwatering meat and the best dressing you will ever have. Yummo!”

1. Cafe Agora
The AJC dining team’s Popular Eats specialist Jon Watson says, “Cafe Agroa, with its friendly and eccentric owner, consistently serves up my favorite gyro in town. While the prices seem to change depending on the day of the week, a trip to Buckhead for one of these no-fuss, classic gyros is certainly worth it.”

The gyro at Cafe Sababa tastes fresher than other’s I have tried. I think it has to do with the mint and the feta cheese. Also, the meat is moister than others. The tzatziki sauce is great too. http://www.cafesababa.net

There’s an Arabic dish that’s similar to Gryo called “shawarma”. It has a slightly different flavor and is served with different sauces. The place to go for shawarma is Aladdin’s in north Sandy Springs!

Son of a Greek in McDonough. The best tzatziki sauce and the best Greek Salads. This place was previously Olympia Pizza House in Stockbridge. I’ve had most of the places around Atlanta, it’s the best kept secret…..of course it’s not on the north side so it’s not well known.

Nik’s Place by far. I have eaten many Gyro’s around Atlanta and none even come close to Nik’s. Family recipie passed down to the owner who was born in Greece. Make the trip to Marietta. Get it to go if you do not like to eat in a bar atmosphere or get there early before the crowd arrives.

Opa’s in Duluth has great Gyros. We also like Nick’s in Johns Creek. Have not been to their original (this is a franchise). Are there any bad Gyros?

Falafel Cafe near Life College off Cobb Pkwy, this is a hidden gem. It is in the back on the bottom of a strip center behind the Waffle House. They call themselves a Persian Cafe, but I dont care what you call it… it is some of the best Gyros (as well as anything else on the menu) I have ever had. The owner is a Great guy too.
Next runner up would be Nick’s on Whitlock in Marietta. Theirs is the Greek version, REALLY tasty. All their Greek stuff is Authentic.
