1. Dutch Monkey
You say, “I drive 30 min every Saturday for their AMAZING treats! My 4 year old loves to watch the donuts being made while I order our breakfast” and “The best doughnuts and great for our community! Keylime pie doughnuts, blueberry cake doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, strawberry bars, lemon meringue, boston cream pie… all awesome!”

2. Krispy Kreme
3. Sublime
4. Dough in the Box
5. Revolution

OUR PICKS
We’re doing something a little different with this week’s topic. Since we all had different takes on the best doughnut, we thought we’d offer up four different choices.
Krispy Kreme
Chief Dining Critic John Kessler says, “While I appreciate the care and artistry of the doughnuts prepared by small, local bakeries, the only doughnut I truly crave is hot now: Krispy Kreme.”

Dough in the Box
The AJC dining team’s specialist in Southern and Neighborhood Fare Jenny Turknett says, “I’ve tried all the doughnuts in town and Dough in the Box remains my favorite. The shop’s yeast dough contains no sugar and is fried in soybean oil, resulting in a doughnut with a big yeasty flavor without the cloying sweetness. The light and exceedingly tender doughnuts come in traditional flavors, with old-fashioned sour cream, apple fritters and simple glazed among the top sellers.”

Sublime Doughnuts
The AJC dining team’s Popular Eats specialist Jon Watson says, “The grandaddy of gourmet donuts in Atlanta, Sublime Doughnuts (in the photo on the left) in Atlanta remains my go-to for the best doughnuts in town. For my money, it is tough to beat the Fresh Strawberries and Cream or Maple Bacon Cheddar.”

German Cafe and Bakery
Keeper of Best of the Big A Shane Harrison says, “I find myself drawn again and again to the simple, bronzed perfection of the apple fritters at the German Cafe and Bakery in Decatur. These heavenly nuggets have a crisp exterior that doesn’t wilt under the sweet glaze and a doughy interior with just the right amount of chew.”

Dough in the Box, hands down. Had them all. Neither Sublime nor Krispy Kreme can touch ‘em.

You do know they filter for duplicate IP addresses, so whomever is bombing the list with the dutch monkey nominations is just wasting their time. Your votes won’t count. Seriously? Must be a sucky place if they have to resort to such low-life tactics. Big turn off.
