Stage: The cherished children’s tale “The Velveteen Rabbit” comes to life on the stage at the New Dawn Theatre Company in Duluth. It continues through Sept. 22.
Fair: The North Georgia State Fair is back with all the rides, food and fun you’d expect, plus live concerts from Newsboys (Sept. 21), Sara Evans (Sept. 26), Thompson Square (Sept. 27), Colt Ford (Sept. 28) and Mark Wills (Sept. 29). The fair continues through Sept. 30 at Marietta’s Jim R. Miller Park.
Music, stage: Musical theater duo of Kait Kerrigan (lyrics) and Brian Lowdermilk (music) perform in “Run Away With Me: Kerrigan & Lowdermilk in Concert.” The shows atart at 8 p.m. Sept. 21-22 at Kennesaw State University’s Stillwell Theater.
Stage: The Atlanta Shakespeare Company continues its run through the Bard’s comedies with “Measure for Measure” and “All’s Well that Ends Well” running in repertory through Sept. 30 at the New American Shakespeare Tavern.
Stage: A mild-mannered songwriter falls for a stripper in Next Stage Theatre’s world premiere “Dancing Sideways.” The show runs through Sept. 22 at the Alley Stage in Marietta.
Stage: Atlanta Lyric Theatre presents the rousing musical “Anything Goes.” It opens Sept. 21 and continues through Oct. 7 at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta.
Stage: Aurora Theatre presents the quirky comedy “Tigers Be Still,” the tale of an “art therapist” and her first patient, a troubled high school student. It continues through Sept. 30 in the Lawrenceville company’s studio space. Check out our review of the production.

Stage: Bram Stoker’s horror classic gets a modern musical update in “Dracula: The Rock Opera,” which runs through Oct. 14 at 7 Stages Theater.
Stage: “1776” is a musical take on the creation and signing of the Declaration of Independence by representatives of the 13 original colonies. See it at Dorsey Studios Theater through Oct. 7.
Stage: Young Actors Playhouse, in Marietta presents the stage version of the Harper Lee classic “To Kill a Mockingbird.” It runs through Sept. 23.
Festival: You find arts, crafts, kids’ activities, a car show, a pet parade and more at the Sandy Springs Festival. which happens Sept. 22-23 at Sandy Springs’ Heritage Green.
Festival: The Fall Folklife Festival is a trip back to an earlier era, with discussions and demonstrations of traditional crafts, southern foodways, and environmental sustainability. It begins at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 22 at the Atlanta History Center.
Pets: You might just meet your new best friend at the Furkids Animal Shelter’s Open House, which gets under way at 11 a.m. Sept. 22 and 23.
Festival: Rising Atlanta band the Whiskey Gentry headlines the first Bluegrass And BBQ Jam Fest, which begins at 3 p.m. Sept. 22 at the American Legion Post 127 in Buford.
Festival: Fiesta Georgia is a daylong celebration of Latino culture with continuous live musical performances on two stages along with arts and crafts, food, dance performances and more. It happens 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sept. 23 at Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers.
Music: First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta’s Musica Sacra series presents vocal ensemble Coro Vocati at 2 p.m. Sept. 23.
Music: Atlanta Baroque Orchestra’s “Autumn in Hamburg” features Telemann’s “Tafelmusik.” The concert begins at 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at Roswell Presbyterian Church.
