Best thrift store

goodwill.0930Kate Kimball searches shops as her son, Cayden, 3, sleeps through the search for bargains at the Johns Creek Goodwill Store, which is just one of many locations around the metro area. Goodwill was your pick for best thrift store in and around and Atlanta. Photo: Brant Sanderlin, bsanderlin@ajc.com

YOUR PICKS
1. Goodwill (many locations)
You say, “Goodwill might charge a little more for their merchandise, but they are clean and organized. (I like to look at the racks with the clothing sorted by colors and the rainbow effect!) … Goodwill has a slightly higher standard for their merchandise I think.” and “And I love Goodwill. I am actually wearing a Brooks Brothers dress shirt I bought at Goodwill. 4-5 dollars for Brooks Brothers, Banana Republic, Jos A Banks, Lacoste, and J Crew is not over priced!! Try shopping at these stores @ Lenox!!!”

2. Value Village (12 locations)
3. Last Chance Thrift Store (four locations)
4. Humane Society of Forsyth County (Cumming)
5. Salvation Army (many locations)

OUR PICKS
1. Value Village (12 locations)
We say, “Value Village, which has locations all over Atlanta, is exactly what a thrift store should be. Not only are the prices the cheapest, but the regular sales mean even shopping for furniture and jewelry can be a pleasure. Walk in at the right time and you can score expensive vintage clothing and accessories for pocket change. Who doesn’t love that?”

2. Goodwill (Dunwoody, Northlake)
3. Second Life (Avondale Estates)
4. Last Chance Thrift Store (four locations)
5. FurKids Thrift Store (Norcross)

Humane Society of Forsyth County Thrift Store!!

Profits go to help the animals in their “no kill shelter”. You can find anything for your home from furniture, appliances, CD’s, books to decorations for any holiday and cloths by size and color.

Plus the people there are Awesome!

The Humane Society of Forsyth County’s Thrift Store is the best I have ever seen. It is always neat, clean and very organized. The prices are very low and their selection is extensive. Even my picky teenage girls love shopping there. There are new things coming in constantly. Love it, love it, love it!

Luv Attic Treasures in Chamblee. They have some incredible designer clothes for $10 to $20! Also, better ladies clothing, even a Petites section. They replenish the stock almost every day and best of all, the proceeds go back into the community to help kids and adults in need.

The Humane Society of Forsyth County’s Thrift Store is the best one I have seen in a long time. Your donations support the many animals waiting at the shelter for their forever home. Please support this noble and worthy cause.

Attic Treasures in Chamblee is run by volunteers of the Assistance League of Atlanta. All the money is returned to the community. Wonderful bargains including designer only racks and very helpful staff.

Humane Society Thrift Store, Cumming, GA. I can find anything I want here. It is like going to the Mall of Georgia. You will see hardware, electronics, computers, gardening, library, clothes, purses, hats, holiday decorating items, home goods, pet supplies, jewelry, shoes, home fixtures. The store is clean and neat. The staff is helpful and friendly. Plenty of parking. Plan a day and enjoy the local restaurants within a short walk from the Thrift Store. You have it all here! Items cost less than at most thrift stores so it is worth the drive. BEST OF ALL , the money is saving an animal’s life.

Salvation Army store on Hwy 9 in Roswell is unbelievable. When I walked in I thought I was in a nice furniture store, no kidding! It’s not anything like any thrift store you have ever been in. Goodwill on McFarland is also brand new and very nice. The prices are too high in the Humane Society of Forsyth Co thrift store. I loved the Romney comment!
