OUR PICKS
1. Café Restaurant Dominicano (Norcross)
Chief Dining Critic John Kessler says, “Cristino Hiraldo and Zoilo Rodriguez opened this modest, dimly lit spot as a gathering place for the Dominican community. Guests come at lunch for $6 plate lunches from a steam table. Look for a half-dozen proteins ranging from stewed pork riblets in red chile to roasted chicken and oxtails in gravy, and pair one with a rice and salad. At night the full menu features a number of options, including a whole snapper fried to a golden crisp, mondongo (tripe soup) and great goat stew.”

2. Stir It Up (Little Five Points)
3. Calypso Café (downtown Atlanta)
4. Delight Your Palate Caribbean Chicken & Fish (Scottdale)
5. Chef Rob’s (Sandy Springs)

Anna’s Kitchen in Alpharetta was hands-down the best Jamaican restaurant in the area. The owner was also extremely nice. I hate that it closed down….

Chef Rob’s Sandy Springs, though pricey is good. Most of my island friends always grabbed food from Island Cafe off Memorial Drive when they didn’t have time to make it themselves.

Definitely going to try Scotch Bonnet though! :o )

Please include whether these restuarants are in safe areas. I’ve seen a couple of places listed where I wouldn’t care to venture.

Ionie’s Caribbean Kitchen on 124 in Grayson sits right up there with the best of ‘em. Great Curry Goat, Oxtails, brown stew chicken. Festival on the weekends, great rice and peas, delicious gravy. It is a nice size plate of food that they sit in front of you even on the lunch menu. The patties are made in-house and are killer. The two gals that run this place know from some Jamaican. Give ‘em a try.

Scotch Bonnet is GREAT!!!!!!! I am dying to try the infamous Jerk Sausage, but everytime I go they do not have them. Does it go that quick or is it a seasonal thing????? Because I know they didn’t discontinue the Jerk Sausage.

Without a DOUBT, Scotch Bonnet on Campbellton Rd. is the BEST in Atlanta. If you like Jamaican cuisine, it is a place you must visit. Even if you don’t live on that side of town, it is well worth the ride. I live in Dunwoody and drive over there at least once a month. Try the jerk ribs or chicken!

Golden Krust in Kennesaw. Love their curried chicken and curried goat, both of which are so tender they fall off the bone!

Delight Your Palate on E. Ponce close to the intersection with N. Decatur Road. The menu is extensive and EVERYTHING I’ve tried is great. My friends and i order a variety and sample everything. Smoked meats from the smoker out back, flavorful sauces, traditional roti and yummy sides!!!!!

Just Jerk Cafe on Cascade Road (across from the Beautiful). Every dish I’ve had reminds me of growing up in Miami when our Caribbean friends cooked for us.
