Cajun comes to Georgia!!! The French Market & Tavern in Locust Grove is beyond belief. The chef has the taste and recipes of the cuisine down pat. The atmosphere makes you look for alligators when you leave. The bakery is fresh every day and several times a day and the gift shop is everything you could desire. This is truly the best way to spend an afternoon or evening. To say we love it is an understatement. Try it you’ll like it.

How many people live in Locust Grove ? I am impressed by the passion showed by their customers.

Local Republic in Lawrenceville. Really good rotating beer selection, well thought out wine list and solid food. I also like the fact that there are no TV’s. You actually get to talk to the folks you are with or meet at the bar instead of staring glassy eyed at the TV.

Have any of y’all even eaten at French Market? It’s a cool concept, and the food CAN be good, but the service is non-existent. Been 3-4 times, and the last time was the worst…waited at the bar for a table for over half an hour, while the dining room was half empty…waited another 20-30 minutes for dinner, and got cold, undercooked steak. The waiter (who stopped by every 15-20 minutes) didn’t have a response to the food complaints…until he came back for the dessert order, and offered us a free dessert. No thanks. The shop is cute, it’s a fresh, fun atmosphere, but we just don’t have the patience for it anymore.

Oh, Alma Cocina in the 191 building! Completely forgot about that until I saw another poster mentioning it. If you work downtown, this place is heaven. We have very very few decent places to eat (even Hooters has temporarily closed down

I am one of the early voters for French Market in Locust Grove. Yes I DO like it. I have NO connection to it other than I have eaten there several times. By the way I thought this was to vote for your favorite New restaurant. I too love RL’s off the square in Covington, but it is not new. Love their greens soup as an appetizer. Made with several types of greens and several types of meats. Worth a trip to either place.

I’m originally from Louisiana, and I know a good Roast Beef Po-Boy when I taste one. After some experimenting, the FM&T really got it right! They use the right kind of bread (not some hoagie bread trying to pass for po-boy bread) and flavor of the meat is outstanding! Use plenty of napkins! I also really like the FM&T Muffaletta…It’s by far the best Muffaletta I have had since I use to work in the French Quarter. Not in the mod for a sandwhich? Then try the Chicken Cordon Bleu. Excellent!!! I have also tried the Redfish. I thought was very good, but could be improved upon maybe just a little. But over all I was very satisfied with my meal selections. The draft beer selection is small, but adequate. FM&T carries local brews by Jailhouse Brewery. Try the IPA.

OK folks, let’s play nice. Yes, there have been a lot of nominations for the French Market. Yes, we can tell when the nominations are all coming from the same place. And no, that’s not what is happening here. These are simply the result of a loyal fan base being mobilized by a business. That’s perfectly acceptable. No one is forcing anyone to nominate. If those folks didn’t love it so much, they wouldn’t bother nominating it. So, let’s stick to nominating your favorite restaurant rather than attacking others for doing the same. It will make this a much more civil place to play.

Heirloom BBQ and definitely Bell Street Burritos – for any Atlantan who loved Tortillas go to Bell Street. Their food is better, the restaurant is much cleaner without the too cool for school attitude – their service people are actually nice and bathed to boot.

Grand Champion BBQ!!!
Located on Shallowford Rd., just outside of Roswell, G.C. has been (and continues) to be my favorite place to eat. The dedication, knowledge, and outright passion that Robert Owens and Gregory Vivier have for barbeque shows every time I dine there. I’ve had just about everything on the menu, and it’s all worthy. Yes, I’ve been among the lucky six to get a short rib on Friday, and I will tell you that it’s the best I’ve ever had.
I’ll conclude simply by saying: Grand Champion **deserves** success. I can’t say that for most restaurants.

Yet another vote for Grand Champion (G.C.) Bbq in Marietta (East Cobb)/Roswell. Robert is a fantastic owner, he serves the best to his customers, always homemade, and the pork bbq is far better than Fox Bros. even on a good day. Try the Mac n’ cheese and baked beans, but all the sides are good. As Nathan said, this guy, and his work family, deserves success, because they work super hard to make sure everything tastes amazing! If they were inside 285, they would have lines out the door – but they are totally worth the drive OTP, people. Just do it.

Grand Champ is good. If you have ever been to Community Q in decatur, they are virtually the same place. Both owners have a history with Sam or Dave or both. The owner of the Comm Q is the person that came up with the Mac and Cheese recipe. Since I live in Decatur, the trip to Grand Champ seemed like a waste of time.

GCBBQ (Grand Champion) have the best ribs Ive ever eaten. Now, Im not one of those foodies that go around critiquing each and every restaurant out there but I can tell you Ive had some pretty awesome bbq in my life and the consistency and taste at GC is above reproach. Their mac and cheese is of gourmet quality and the pulled meats are lean and full of flavor.

I had a dental appointment one block from Grand Champion BBQ and was in the mood for BBQ after my appointment. My GPS said Grand Champion BBQ was one block away so I decided to try it. I love BBQ and this place was great! There was absolutely no fat in the meat and it was SO tender. The cole slaw was also perfect and I am real picky about coleslaw. Now I go out of my way to eat at Grand Champion and I think it’s the best BBQ in Cobb County.

Our family is thrilled that we have such a great restaurant so close by. Everything we’ve ordered has been delicious, including the collard greens, the mac and cheese, as well as the banana pudding . In addition, you can’t beat the prices, or the attention the owner and his family give their customers. They’ve got the vote of our entire family of 5!

One of the things that I love best about Atlanta is discovering the best eats at these little “hole in the walls”! Hurray for G.C. BBQ, the best thing that has come to East Cobb! Everyone knows where “Chicago’s” is located, on the corner of Johnson Ferry and Shallowford. . . take home some of G.C. BBQ’s fixin’s “to go” in that same shopping plaza, if you don’t have time to stay and eat ~ but you better hurry, because when the BBQ is gone, the work day is over for them (smart owners)! SEED in East Cobb. Hands down the best new restaurant in Atlanta. Everything about Seed is on point. Food, service, ambiance. If you havent been do yourself the pleasure of trying it out! I will be trying out that BBQ place Grand Champion. I love some BBQ

GC BBQ… hands down. Amazing meats, amazing mac & cheese and I forgot about the coleslaw w/ diced apples until I saw it comments above… that also is amazing!
If you think that some place else is deserving? Super. But you owe it to yourself to come OTP and try it, cause it’s worth the hype.
PS – I hear the pies are good, too!

Grand Champion BBQ! Not only do I LOVE the food and service, I’m very pleased to see a restaurant support the community! After purchase, you can choose a local school and then 10% of the total on the receipt goes to that school. It’s nice to see a restaurant that actually CARES about the community in which it does business!!!

I’ve been searching for the best baby-back ribs for years. I’ not searching any longer, they’re at G C BBQ. They’re tender, perfectly seasoned and smoked, in fact, I don’t r en put sauce on them anymore. Keep it up Bob and Greg.

French Market and Tavern in Locust Grove is amazing. The atmosphere is really cool, the food is wonderful, and I crave their lemon drop martinis. Such a fun place to go on a date, out with friends, or even as a family. So glad we have a restaurant with so much character here in Locust Grove.

I agree with Chinchi except Grand Champion is not in Marietta. It is in Cobb County, like Marietta is, but is between Mareitta and Roswell, it has a Roswell postal address.
