1.Gumbeaux’s Cajun Café
You say, “So worth the drive. The food is incredible and inexpensive. I just got back from New Orleans and it tastes just like the food there” and “Great food great atmosphere, most of the staff have been there forever and really make you feel part of the family. They always have great specials and 50¢ shrimp night. Their food is amazing and the portions are huge. Also the best banana pudding I have ever put in my mouth (sorry grandma ) lol. Seriously we go here on a regular basis and always refer our friends, clients and family. Check it out you will not be disappointed.”

1. (tie) Gumbeaux’s Cajun Cafe, Douglasville and Adele’s Authentic Cajun Experience, Roswell
The AJC dining team’s specialist in Southern and Neighborhood Fare Jenny Turknett says, “Both of my top picks serve the spicier cajun fare and both have mastered the depth of flavor frequently neglected in favor of naked heat. Opt for the sampler platters at each so that you can taste a range of dishes including shrimp creole, jambalaya and gumbo. At Gumbeaux’s, which opened in 1994, don’t miss the jambalaya bursting with smoky heat. At Adele’s, a relative newcomer, having opened in the last 6 months, try the shrimp creole, which is brothy, tangy and packed with tomato flavor.”

My vote goes to Cajun’s Cookin’ in Hiram. They just moved to their new location because they were so successful. They moved from Dallas to Hiram this past weekend. Food is outstanding!

HENRY’S in Acworth! The food is always great, the staff are amazing, and I’ve not been there many times that Henry didn’t come out and personally greet us. He is as much of a draw as the food!

As the days draw nearer to Mardi Gras, my mind starts to wander and my mouth starts to water in anticipation of having some great Cajun and Creole cuisine courtesy of Gumbeaux’s in Douglasville. My wife likes eating the Roby R’s Marinated Ribeye and I like eating a combination plate of Cajun popcorn and fried alligator. (wiping drool from corners of my mouth)

Cajun’s Cookin in Hiram. Without question the best Cajun in town! Cajun (the owner, who you will most assuredly meet) is a true New Orleanian! His food is authentic and told to be straight from his Momma’s kitchen, and they’ll definitely help you “pass a good time”! Great food and people there. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!!

Hands down for good food and good times you can’t beat Henry’s Louisiana Grille in Acworth. The nightly fish specials are awesome and seem to improve every time I eat there. The staff is friendly and awesome. I know may Louisianans and they all swear Henry’s is the real deal. Throw in Blues on Friday night and you have the recipe for some serious fun.

Love, love, love Henry’s Louisiana Grill in Acworth. The food is incomparable, located on quaint Main St. in downtown Acworth is perfect, inside it’s festive and warm…and Henry is ALWAYS circulating spreading his joy! We also love Henry’s Uptown…best place to go Friday nights for amazing blues, rock and dancing…you never know when Henry is gonna invite you onto the dance floor. Best choice for cajun/creole food in town!

Gumbeaux in Douglasville!!!! They serve so much more food than Henry’s (which is good too)… Gumbeaux is true ‘dirty cajun’ and Henry’s is more fancy but not enough food for a cajun girl like me!! :P

Henry’s in Acworth! The Ooh La La, Shrimp and Grits and bread pudding are the best anywhere. I can’t believe people are posting restaurant CHAINS as their favorites. Do you want to dine with a corporation or with a chef who visits your table personally, gives you a free bread pudding on your birthday and whose original recipes will give you a foodgasm? I rest my case.
