You say, “Another vote for Pho Dai Loi on Jonesboro Rd. Many a Saturday morning has found me there shaking off a hangover with a big bowl of pho and some Vietnamese coffee.” There is also a location on Buford Highway.

OUR PICKS
1. Nam Phuong
The AJC dining team’s specialist in International Cuisine Gene Lee says, “Run by a mother and son team, Nam Phuong’s Norcross location impresses diners with a sophisticated upgrade not typically associated with Vietnamese dining. Around a year later, a second location popped up on Buford Highway offering diners a scaled down menu. A recent sampling of dishes such as a crispy banh xeo (mung bean crepe filled with pork, sprouts and shrimp) reveals the Buford Highway location hasn’t compromised in food quality consistently found in its Norcross location.”

Pho Bac on Buford Highway. I love pho, and didn’t know a great place in Atlanta until my friend took me to Pho Bac last week. The pho is FANTASTIC. We ordered the “everything” bowl, and the meat-to-noodles ratio was great. Good amount of meat, plenty of noodles, and the broth is absolutely perfect. I love Pho Bac! (And for 7.95, a gigantic medium bowl was practically bottomless!)

Chateau de Saigon on Buford Highway – always consistent, always delicious, conscientious management. Lemongrass tofu like “little pillows of happiness”!
