1. Morelli’s
The AJC dining team’s Popular Eats specialist Jon Watson says, “Morelli’s wide and unique mix of craft ice cream flavors, like Avocado or Balsamic Strawberry, has made it a go-to favorite for Atlantans looking for something a little different. Flavors change constantly, but first timers should start out with their Salted Caramel, if it is available.”

I realize that I’m going out of a major limb here, but the ice cream at Sublime Doughnuts really deserves consideration. Kamal Grant’s been at work for several months now creating ice creams to accompany his doughtnut creations.
Of note are the blueberry, maple bacon, and peanut butter ice creams. The blueberry is easily the best fruit-based ice cream I’ve ever tried. The maple bacon is seriously smokey yet sweet. Finally, the peanut butter ice quite subtle–very peanutty and not overly sweet–making it a perfect accompaniment for the doughtnuts.
I know, I know, Sublime probably won’t get much consideration in this category. But Kamal’s ice cream is quite great and its something he’s been doing under the radar for a while now.

Morelli’s hands down! They have the most unique, delish flavors ever! Their salted caramel will make you hit flips, ginger-lavender will be your favorite meal substitute, and the chai will make you slap somebody! it is a bit pricey, but wrth it if you want a good quality ice-cream fix.

I love Morelli’s, but I do admit the offerings from Sublime Doughnuts are amazing, as well. Both equally delicious and better than anything else.

Grater’s. Try the coconut chocolate chip. Kroger’s carries it along with an assortment of other somewhat exotic flavors from this Cincinnati based ice cream maker. I have never had ice cream with such actual flavors. You can taste the coconut in my favorite flavor. The blueberry chip has real blueberries. Same with mint, sorbets, etc. Worth every penny.

Honeysuckle Gelato (food truck) has fabulous gelato. Really creative flavors. Graeter’s out of Cincinnati is great for store bought. Huge chunks of chocolate in some sublime flavors. Their Peppermint Stick is the best.
