Steamhouse Lounge's beloved lobster bisque took top honors from readers for best soup in and around Atlanta.

1. Steamhouse Lounge
You say, “I gotta tell ya, if you haven’t tried the Lobster bisque at the SteamHouse, you’re missing something……itz by far the best I’ve ever had and I’ve tried them all over the world…..huge chunks of lobster meat and a very well kept secret ingredient that separates itself from the others!!”

OUR PICKS
1. Tofu Village
The AJC dining team’s specialist in Southern and Neighborhood Fare Jenny Turknett says, “Prepare to dig in and sit for awhile with the kal bi tang (short rib soup) at this unassuming spot in a Marietta strip mall. Don’t rush through this bowl of steaming hot broth or you’ll miss that it slowly becomes richer as you draw the tender meat from its bone. So rich, in fact, that you won’t look to the small crock of salt served on the side for flavor.”

@Ed in Atlanta – I’m sure Souper Jenny’s soups are good, but I’m not seeing how you’re going to save some cash by eating there! Sounds like a good “gift card” or “business lunch” place.

The vegetable soup at The Daily Point Cafe (100 Peachtree near Starbucks) is hearty and filled with veggies — green beans, corn, carrots, etc. The owners make it fresh every morning and ladle up generous servings. It’s the perfect accompaniment to a cafe sandwich or Korean tofu taco.

The tomato basil soup from the DeKalb Farmers Market is excellent. I don’t eat it at their cafeteria. It’s too cold inside, so I take home a container of it from the shelf in the cooler section. Get some of their bread and cheese and serve the soup with a homemade grilled cheese sandwich. Hearty lunch on a cold day.

Try the New England Clam Chowder or the Maine Lobster Bisque at Chequer’s Seafood Grill. It’s yummy.
Cinco’s Mexican Cantina has a good chicken tortilla soup with avocados.
Chicken Noodle @ Chick-fil-A is tasty.
I agree the tomato basil @ Jason’s Deli is good.
Oh yeah, Trader Joe’s has a great Tomato soup from the can.
Okay, I am all souped up now, think I’ll have a bowl for dinner tonight.
