OUR PICKS
1. Swallow at the Hollow
The AJC dining team’s specialist in Southern and Neighborhood Fare Jenny Turknett says, “The homemade buttermilk biscuits at Swallow at the Hollow epitomize the Southern biscuit: fluffy, tender and buttery. The biscuits are halved and pan-seared, resulting in a toasty crisp inner layer shining with butter. Swallow at the Hollow’s biscuits are eye-rolling good, particularly when smeared with the accompanying honey.”

The Red Eyed Mule in Marietta. Huge, homemade biscuits with farmer’s market syrups, jellies & jams or some fresh applewood bacon.

Mamie’s in Conyers has always been biscuit heaven, Chik-Fil-A never lets one down when it comes to biscuits, but surprisingly enough, the biscuits served by Manuel’s Tavern during weekend brunch are out of this world.

LOVE the biscuits at Burger Inn on Canton Road. Can’t go wrong with pretty much anything…but side note…does anyone know when they stopped making homemade hashbrowns? Those prefrozen things they use now are a definate miss!

Mathew’s in Tucker may not as good as they were when my Granny worked there, but still good.

Also, I hate to admit it, but Popeye’s has some pretty good biscuits. A couple of those and a large side of red beans and rice – oops time for lunch.

Ria’s Bluebird: It’s located on Memorial across the street from Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta. I’m always on a hunt for the best hand-crafted biscuit in Atlanta, and these folks appear to have it. I think she uses butter as the fat and there is certainly whole buttermilk in it. The leavening is baking powder/soda making it a true biscuit. Go try it!

Flying biscuit’s actual biscuits could double as bricks. They’re hard as a rock.

Horseradish Grill has the BEST biscuits I’ve ever had, hands down.

I don’t like the biscuits at these resturants, they are too thick, I can show you my home made biscuits and they will change your mind. My family & I are getting ready to open our eatery soon and I whis. Sorry The Biscuits. I’m 70 years old and I can prove this and I’m not bragging. Will you give me a chancem then the stores will want me to make their buscuits.

Mary Mac’s Teas House and The Flying Biscuit are the two best biscuit places in Atlata. I agree with others that Popyesys has the best “food chain” biscuit.
