OUR PICKS
1. Swallow at the Hollow
The AJC dining team’s specialist in Southern and Neighborhood Fare Jenny Turknett says, “The homemade buttermilk biscuits at Swallow at the Hollow epitomize the Southern biscuit: fluffy, tender and buttery. The biscuits are halved and pan-seared, resulting in a toasty crisp inner layer shining with butter. Swallow at the Hollow’s biscuits are eye-rolling good, particularly when smeared with the accompanying honey.”

McDonalds are the best for fast food. While I prefer Chick-fil-A for most everything else, their biscuits are horrible! They’re sweet – who wants sweet biscuits?

Flying Biscuits biscuits aren’t that great (yeah, kind of sweet hockey pucks as another posted), but I do like most of their menu. The service is not that great either, but I will go there again.

Flying Biscuit’s biscuits are awful. Hard like a hockey puck. Anyone who would recommend it has either not been to any of the other places listed or is joking.

This being Atlanta, I’m sure Flying Biscuit’s suck product will win. But I’ll go with Stilesboro or Silver Skillet.

Ross’s Diner in Cartersville. It has been there since 1945. It is next to the old theater close to the railroad tracks. The seating is a big U-shaped counter. Great country ham, scrambled eggs, etc. Closes late afternoon each day.
