1. Grand Champion BBQ

Grand Champion BBQ has the best macaroni and cheese (shown bottom right), you say. (Becky Stein)
You have tipped your hat to Grand Champion BBQ, with many saying they’ve brought mac and cheese to a “whole new level.” Grand Champion’s macaroni and cheese is considered less oily than others and gets shout-outs for “the power of gouda.”

OUR PICKS
1. Community Q
Though versions of this near-legendary Mac and Cheese recipe can be found at other spin offs from the Sam & Dave’s family, credit must be given to Dave Roberts of Community Q for creating this gooey masterpiece. This blend of cheddar, Monterey Jack, and Parmesan cheeses with over sized rigatoni noodles made this Atlanta’s unrivaled favorite mac and cheese, and rightly so.

Got three faves:
- Dave Poe’s BBQ (created by David Roberts, the same fellow responsible for Sam’s BBQ1 and Community Q’s mac ‘n’ cheese. The others may be even better, but this is the one I know and love.)
- OK Cafe
- Carver’s
Each has their merits and is equally worthy, so my nominations are in no particular order.

The only downside I have with Poe’s, Sam’s and Community Q’s is that it can get a little too oily at times. But, GREAT taste nonetheless.
I’ll have to add Fox Brother’s Mac n cheese as well. Also, they have a specialty called Fox-a-roni, which is their mac n cheese mixed with their Brunswick stew. Mmm, mmm, MMM!!!
Also, Burnt Fork BBQ in downtown Decatur has a lucious mac n cheese. Perfectly creamy and totally delish.
For a chain, Jim N Nick’s has a very delightful mac n cheese as well.
It almost seems that mac n cheese is replacing brunswick stew as the BBQ staple! LOL

Carver’s mac ‘n cheese is comfort food at its gut-busting best, though I wouldn’t be surprised if their secret is housed within a box of Velveeta.

You must be talkin about AFTER Gordon Ramsey came there recently because I went there back in April and it was the worst mac & cheese ever. I couldn’t believe they were even willing to serve it. It was like they scraped the sides of the burnt up pan… it was dry and burnt, just horrible.

BBQ 1, community q and Dave poes BBQ all have the exact same mac and cheese so that’s why I have to give it to Grand Champion BBQ. The Gouda kicks the already great Mac and
Cheese to a new level and makes it the best I have ever had.

Fat Matt’s is a perfect balance of cheesy, creamy, and peppery. I like the creamy kind too, but if I’m going to splurge on that much fat, I want it to taste like real cheese.
