Banana pudding, vanilla, Oreo and strawberry shakes at Chik-fil-A
YOUR PICKS:
1. Chik-fil-A
You say, “Chick-Fil-A! First choice Peach; second choice banana pudding. No other restaurant can touch them!”
2. Steak ‘n’ Shake
3. FLIP burger
4. Zesto
5. Johnny Rockets

Nutella and burnt marshmallow (from left to right), Krispy Kreme and spicy chocolate mole milkshakes from FLIP burger.
OUR PICKS
1. FLIP burger
AJC dining specialist Jon Horn says, “While FLIP Burger could win for best shake on creativity alone, with flavors like Cap’n Crunch and Foie Gras, the quality of ingredients and execution is outstanding. Newbies should start with a Nutella and Burnt Marshmellow shake, complete with bubbling liquid nitrogen.”
2. Grindhouse Killer Burgers – Piedmont
3. Morelli’s
4. Johnny Rockets
5. Chik-fil-a

None as good as the old Dunaway Drug Stores in Marietta and Dalton. Too bad they no longer exist. I can taste them now. None to compare to the old drug store shakes…..

My favorite is from McDonalds, especially when the ice cream machine is down. The best part is that the ice cream machine is off 80% of the time!!!

Steak N Shake, followed by Johnny Rockets, then Checkers. I’ve only had one milkshake from Johnny’s and it was at Six Flags. It tasted like the best milkshake in my life. Probably cause it was 95+ degrees outside. But hey, for $6, that milkshake better had been good.

I love Chick-Fil-A for everything else, but the milkshakes are horrible. I don’t understand how anyone can think they are tasty. they aren’t even good compared to other fast food chains like McD’s, Checkers or Arby’s. Steak n’ Shake is the next step up as they actually taste a little like ice cream. Meanwhile, Zaxby’s might have the worst fast food shakes .. down near the CFA level. FAR too sugary.
As for ice cream parlor places, Coldstone is hands down better than Breusters. Of course that may be due to teh fact I have gotten sick on my last two Breusters shakes (maybe bad milk added or something).
That being said, nothing at any fast food chaing beats the Blizzard or Frosty for a frozen treat. Pass up the shake and get the real treat.
I would love to try Zesto’s as I have heard some great things about their shakes.

You are dead on accurate. That had one either near or one the square in Marietta when I was a kid and it was the best thing going.

The bourbon/chocolate milkshake at West Egg is a divine inspiration. My husband often gets a chocolate and peanut butter milkshake at the OK that is always perfectly executed.

A requirement of being a milkshake is that it is made with real ice cream. HENCE Sheridan’s can’t be considered. Chickfila can’t either since it’s not real ice cream. I’d vote Bruster’s (Not Bruesters or Brewsters idiots) or Steak and Shake. Both places depend on who makes them. Some make them too runny some too thick. A good shake is one that does not move when you hold it upside down. I used to work at a ice cream parlor (will not say which one) and I had many of guests come and ask for me to make their shakes (and would walk away if I was not working that day).

Flip Burger. It’s Krispy Kreme milkshake alone gives it the prize. Let’s not forget Chik-Fil-A, Bruster’s, and Ben & Jerry’s.

I actually think McDonald’s vanilla shakes is one of my faves! I also love Zesto’s banana!
I don’t get all the hype about Chick Fil A’s shakes…I like their ice dream but the shakes I think are just OK.
I haven’t had Steak n Shakes in a long time but saw that they have some fun summer flavors I want to try…like Key Lime Pie.
