The AJC dining team’s specialist in Southern and Neighborhood Fare Jenny Turknett says, “Pure Knead is an allergy-friendly bakery offering products that are free of gluten, dairy, soy, nuts and shellfish. The bakery makes breads, crackers, buns, cookies, bread pudding and cupcakes with textures that are remarkably similar to traditional wheat-based products. My two favorites are the boules and the flatbread crackers that each come in assorted flavors. Pure Knead sells to many restaurants but now holds retail hours on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Arrive early or the boules will be gone!”

I second Pure Knead! Admittedly, I haven’t tried other gf bakeries in the are and so have little to compare it to. Sally’s bakery has great gf quickbreads, and I’ve really enjoyed the gf cupcakes at Carolyn’s Cupcakes.

I love Sally’s Bakery! Many of their items are vegan friendly which makes being more than just gluten free easy! They recently added Saturday hours so that people like me who work can still get FRESH baked goods to enjoy. Check them out if you haven’t. Family owned and so fun to talk with.

Pure Knead has GREAT hamburger buns. They are so awesome! We LOVE Sarah Kate’s Bakery for delicious gluten free casein free cupcakes that do not have artificial colors, flavors or preservatives!

Sally’s Bakery! My diet Is generally half gluten and half dairy, so I’m not one to be “alternative”. Having said that, I could eat at Sally’s Bakery any time, any day. Tasty stuff.

Ali’s Cookies in East Cobb for the best lactose free baked goods. Kosher pareve is the way to go if you need lactose free and Alis is the best kosher bakery in town.
