OUR PICKS
1. Greenwood’s
The AJC dining team’s specialist in Southern and Neighborhood Fare Jenny Turknett says, “At Greenwood’s, you can’t go wrong — everything on the menu is fresh and delicious. My favorites are the scrumptious pork chops with sage butter served with collards and creamed corn just like my grandmother made.”

Without a doubt – The Colonnade on Cheshire Bridge Road, Atlanta. Wonderful food and even better service. Southern at its best!

I love the Southern Tradition of places like Mary Mac’s & The Colonnade but for actual good food at a meat-and-three (or two!), head to Empire State South.

FYI must not get out much, the Colonnade hasn’t been closed except 2 days a year, every year for about forever. If you’re going to post on a public forum at least get it correct.
I would nominate The Colonnade and Eats on Ponce. Can’t go wrong at either place.

Colonnade is a classic if the Big A is Atlanta. But if we can include Athens in the Big A, Weaver D’s is the hands-down winner!

Gladys and Ron’s Chicken and Waffles on Peachtree Street, and Carver’s Kitchen on Marietta Street are my two favorite meat-and-three places in Atlanta.

BBQ Kitchen on Virginia Avenue. Best thing is you can get meat & 2 with dessert and then get reorders on the veggies without having to get the same ones. If a veggie has “fresh” it is a fresh veggie from the State Farmers Market. How can you go wrong meat & two with dessert and basically all the veggies you can eat. Just be aware that you need to go early as something sell out as it gets later in the day.
