The AJC dining team’s Popular Eats specialist Jon Watson says, “The pulled pork served at Beaver Creek Biscuit Company is perfectly moist and smokey, with generous chunks of crunchy bark mixed in with the meat. When ordering the pork plate, make sure that you specify that you want it pulled and not chopped, and top it off with some of their delicious mustard and vinegar based “Seminole sauce.’”

They have the best pulled pork and brunswick stew around. It’s cheap too! It’s been around for years.

Mo’s Ribs in Canton – On the way towards Waleska on 140. They have the absolute best BBQ anywhere. It’s a family owned place, not a chain. You can’t get this anywhere other than MO’s! I love the old store setting too.

If you haven’t eaten pulled BBQ pork in the Coastal Carolinas SC or NC you haven’t eaten top quality pulled pork. The yankeeized Atlanta area is the last place you’ll find even ‘good’ pulled BBQ pork.

Thompson Brothers BBQ, 2445 Cobb Parkway SE, Smyrna, GA 30080, (770) 818-9098, is by far the most delicious BBQ in the Tri-State area. Whether, it’s pull, boned, de-boned w/ sauce or naked, the pork, beef, chicken or smoked sausage will tantelize your taste buds & have you thinking about the next time you’ll return. Follow the smoke to the neatly tucked away resturant in a strip mall with Office Depot. Go early to eat in or take out, or call your order in advance the line might be out the door.

BBQ1 has the most delicious. Smoky, lean, tender real pulled pieces. They also make the best brunswick stew since the old Hickory house closed. Another side that is unbelievably good is their mac and cheese. It melts in your mouth!

A new place just opened in Zebulon right on the square called The Oink Joint. They have a really good sandwich, sides are excellent and the Ribs were amazing. It wasn’t expensive and a relaxing dinner. If you are south of Griffin youo will not be dissapointed.

Pulled pork at Scott’s Walk Up BBQ (SWUB) in Cartersville is the only real BBQ I’ve found anywhere in NW suburbs. Leaves Slope’s, Backstreet BBQ, Adams & others in the dust. Authentic, smokey, moist. Doesn’t need sauce, although he’s got three different sauces that are very good.

Try his peach cobbler topped with coconut ice cream and toasted coconut.

On Tennessee st. 1 block north of Baptist Church.

Fat Matts is very weak tasting compared to Fox Bros. Don’t mean to disrepect anyone. Just like the Fox BBQ better. I guess taste buds vary.

But, there is one place for BBQ that is absolutely the best in the world. That’s Goode & Company BBQ in Houston, Texas. http://www.goodecompany.com/

I was excited when I moved in the Ansley area near Fat Matt’s 8 years ago. Being from Alabama and living in Texas for a while, you can’t go long without Bar-B-Q, you know? All I can say about FM’s is the food wasn’t as good as I had read, and has gone down slightly since. The place is cool, but great Bar BQ? I have given up and eat it when I visit B’ham. I haven’t found it in Atlanta yet, though I haven’t been to many I see recommended here. We’ll see….

Jim n Nicks pulled pork was literally inedible last time I went (late January, Old Peachtree location)… tough and dry as shoe leather…so there goes their vote. Guess I’d go with Harold’s original location, but maybe its the atmosphere.

I would have to say the Pink Pig in Cherrylog, GA. Great sauce to go along with the pulled barbecue. Also on the menu is a wonderful garlic salad. It must be pretty good as plenty of people come for years from Atlanta and the Atlanta area to eat there.

I like my pulled pork without any sauce at all. Vinegar sauces especially overpower the smoke flavor in the meat. Judge the meat without the sauce, that is the only way to compare. Then add whatever your taste requires. Otherwise one might as well cook the pork inside and douse it with sauce.

The best pulled pork in Atlanta by far is the pulled pork off my smoker. However if I had to pick a place with good pull pork it would be any BBQ competition in the area. Thats where you will find the best BBQ. Sauce is a condiment. Sauce does not make it BBQ. The way its slow cooked and seasoned is what makes it BBQ. Not bragging, but my pulled pork does not need sauce. I’ve tried the BBQ at restaurants around town, they are good but don’t come close to some good competition BBQ. Checkout a competition this year if you want to taste the best Atlanta has to offer.

Dear Idiots (you know who you are), The question is best pulled pork in and around Atlanta. Not Texas, not North Carolina, so spare us all the great bbq stories from a gazillion miles away. Also, none of us care about how great your bbq you make at home is unless you are willing to post your address and invite us all over for dinner. That being said, in my humble opinion, it’s Daddy D’z. (ps. if you can’t find any good bbq in Atlanta then you haven’t looked hard enough.)

Fresh Air BBQ in Athens has the absolute best pulled pork I’ve ever eaten (and I’ve eaten a lot of pulled pork)! The meat is so tender and juicy that it can actually stand on its own and is just enhanced by their delicious sauce.
