Best pulled pork

The pulled pork at Fox Bros. is your pick for the best in and around Atlanta. That side of collard greens is pretty tasty, too. Photo: Becky Stein / Special

YOUR PICKS
1. Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q
You say, “I’ve never met a pulled Q sandwich I didn’t like….but Fox Brothers is really, really good” and “very good on a sandwich but even better as part of the Texas Fries.”

2. Pig-N-Chik
3. Sam’s BBQ1
4. Community Q
5. Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q
6. Daddy D’z
7. Dave Poe’s BBQ

OUR PICKS
1. Beaver Creek Biscuit Company and Barbeque
The AJC dining team’s Popular Eats specialist Jon Watson says, “The pulled pork served at Beaver Creek Biscuit Company is perfectly moist and smokey, with generous chunks of crunchy bark mixed in with the meat. When ordering the pork plate, make sure that you specify that you want it pulled and not chopped, and top it off with some of their delicious mustard and vinegar based “Seminole sauce.’”

Kansas City has the best Q anywhere. But down here I go with Pappy Reds, or Jim and Nicks. For a chain, Shanes’ on Old Milton is good too.

It’s gotta be Dave Poe’s in Marietta.
Wallace in Austell is very good also.
Hate to say it, but Williamson Bros in Marietta USED to be good, but now it’s kinda so-so.
Also, just have to put this in…..the BEST pulled pork is at MY house.
Slow cooked for hours on my Brinkman Smoke-N-Pit smoker.
There ya go!!!!

If its a chain run away.
If its slather in sauce run away
If its cook somewhere else then delivered to the restaurant, “you know who you are” run away

Look for the smallest hole in the walls, and there you will find the best bbq.

For those that say the cooking is all the same and all that matters is the sauce, you have no idea what your talking about and should leave this blog now.

For those that say you need to go to New York for good barbeque, that noise you hear is the laughter from the rest of us.

So where is the best barbeque? Like I would tell you guys so I would have to fight the crowd everyday.

Good Luck.

Isn’t this a forum about “pulled pork” only? Not BBQ in general, nor places elsewhere.

Let’s concentrate on the question folks.

Who has the best “PULLED” pork in the ATLANTA, Ga area?

There is not a restaurant in the state of Georgia that makes Great BBQ. That is why I make my own. Eastern NC style with a vinegar sauce.

Might as well get in on this – I hope I never find the best pulled pork because it’s so much fun looking for it! That said, my vote goes to Hambones in Hapeville and Fresh Air in Indian Springs. Someone mentioned Dreamland -seriously? The one here? I don’t think so. Now, Dreamland in Montgomery, AL, is another story…..

Very few serve pulled pork most of the ones mentioned here are chopped pork sandwiches. Go, eat at your favorite (after all even the worst BBQ is better than none) then tell the AJC.
This should give you an idea. I can not list all of them and some also have sliced.

Chopped
Williamson Brothers
Hudon’s
Wallace’s
Swallow at the Hollow
Fat Matt’s
Harold’s

Pulled
D.B.A. BBQ
Jim ‘N Nicks
Fox Brothers
