It's your choice for best late night dining. And why not? They're everywhere. Anytime you need a bite to eat, there's a Waffle House nearby to get some scattered, smothered and covered has browns. Photo: Bob Andres / bandres@ajc.com
YOUR PICKS
1. Waffle House
You say, “There really is no debate on this topic. If you’re from Atlanta, or anywhere in the Southeast for that manner, it’s Waffle House all the way!”
2. The Vortex
3. Holeman & Finch Public House
4. The Majestic
5. R. Thomas Deluxe Grill

The Majestic, an Atlanta institution, is our pick for best late night dining. The atmosphere is at least as important in its status as the food. Staff photo.
OUR PICKS
1) Majestic Diner
The AJC dining team’s specialist in International Cuisine Gene Lee says, “This is number one due to the experience more than the food. Some days when I pass by the Majestic, I’m reminded of Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks. On late weekend nights the place turns into a night club (doorman included), fueled by buzzed party goers looking to lay a base of food in their stomachs before they go pass out. My standby is a heated slice of apple pie (à la mode of course) with melted cheese on top.”
2. Cafe Agora
3. Myung Ga Won
4. Victory Sandwich Bar
5. Waffle House

Wafflehouse and The Majestic are about dining like iHop and Denny’s. Lets add the Dwarf House in Hapeville to the list. :p
I’m thinking the author is talking about places like Gladys Knights Chicken and Waffles. Cafe Intermezzo or Chinese Budda (10th and Spring is another surprising late night find)
I don’t think any of the three have flourecent lighting like an office, sell cups of coffee for 50 cents, or have paper napkin dispensers on the tables.

Though Waffle House is a go-to spot for late night dining (because there is always at least one within a mile of anywhere I happen to be), The Vortex fills the need for big, juicy burgers & greasy tots and Cafe Intermezzo fills the need for a dressed up coffee (the Cafe Beethoven is my fav) and decadent desserts. It’s all in what I’m craving.
