YOUR PICKS
1. Barker’s Red Hots
You say, “Barker’s – No one even compares. Water pulls the flavor out of the dog. Barker’s are grilled over real charcoal. Try their signature dog!! Dogs made by a 142 year old meat packer out of Buffalo, N.Y. Awesome rings and fries and their Bomb Italian Sausage – unbelievable. Wash it all down with a Loganberry and you died and went to heaven.”

OUR PICKS
1. Brandi’s World Famous Hot Dogs
The AJC dining team’s Popular Eats specialist Jon Watson says, “Open only for lunch, you will always find this small diner-style hot dog shop in Marietta packed to the brim with regulars, and for good reason. Their spicy chili dogs are the epitome of a Georgia-style hot dog, and the best that I’ve had in the city.”

The Varsity may not be the best dog in the area, but after over 70 years of eating them, they are comfort food. I like them

America’s Top Dog tries hard, perhaps too hard try to be all things to all customers. Service is good and friendly. OK, but not a great dog, the multitude of toppings don’t make up for the mediocre dog.

The varsity has the worst dogs around. I would not feed them to a homeless guy. Hey Fifth Generation you need to learn how to spell Varsity.

No doubt the Varsity is going to win. The place is legendary. Their Hot Dogs taste like Road Kill next to some of the places mentioned here.

Try to be objective people!

Nu Way is the hot dogs of gods, it may not count as Atlanta’s best but it’s the best in the state by far.

Rivals Hotdogs in Loganville is with out a doubt the best place for hot dogs EVER!!! I grew up in Atlanta and ate regularly at the Varisty and at Zestos. I always thought they were the best…but that was until Rivals came to Loganville and then the Varsity and Zestos became hot dog history.
Rivals has the BEST hotdogs and the owners are the friendliest, nicest people you could ever meet.

Well, I don’t know who has the best hot dog in Atlanta (being that I just moved here). I would say that the Varsity has good frankfurters, but it’s more of just a good fast food joint than a place that specializes in hot dogs and sausages. I really miss Rosamunde (http://rosamundesausagegrill.com/ if you want to check them out, but they’re in SF) which had hot dogs and sausages from just all over, and they really wet Bay Area mouths and kept them coming for more–I really loved a hot beer sausage, smothered in sour kraut and onions, with some peppers. I had some good hot dogs in Chicago, but they have to much fixings and not enough just meat for my tastes. If anyone knows where you can get a good sausage dog, some beer sausage or a good andouille, please post! If they’re in Atlanta or close, I’d love to visit. As for lots of the places that people are saying, well…you can get just about the same thing at home, and that is NOT what I go out to a restaurant for.

Barker’s on Windy Hill in Marietta is by far the best hot dog I have had in ATL. I have nothing against the Varsity–like their chili dogs–but Barker’s is just a totally different experience. The fact that they use a quality hot dog (imported from Buffalo) AND cook over charcoal makes all the difference.

BARKERS RED HOTS!!! top quality dogs shipped in from a real family owned meat packer, grilled over real charcoal flames, topped with your choice of fresh toppings. If you’ve never tried this place, then make the trek to Windy Hill Rd. You’ll be glad you did!

Another vote for Barker’s on Windy Hill in Marietta. This is by far the best grilled hot dog in GA. Barkers is the only place this far south of Western New York (Buffalo) that you can get Sahlen’s hot dogs.

Rivals in Loganville has the best hot dogs in the Atl….The Hellhound Challenges (which are posted on You Tube) are a sight to behold! I hate to see them close the doors, it’s going to be a huge loss to the Loganville area.

How can Rivals be the best when they aren’t even in business anymore? Looks like they’re closing up shop this week. Too bad…but we will always remember, they were the most popular hot dog establishment on this Internet forum.

I like America’s Top Dog. Out of all the hot dog places I’ve eaten at I like
their foot long dog with Cincinati chili, brown mustard, onion and cheddar cheese
sauce. My wife loves their Big Q with BBQ pork and slaw and onion rings
