The tasty dogs at Barker's Red Hots, your pick for best in Atlanta, sizzling away on the grill.
YOUR PICKS
1. Barker’s Red Hots
You say, “Barker’s – No one even compares. Water pulls the flavor out of the dog. Barker’s are grilled over real charcoal. Try their signature dog!! Dogs made by a 142 year old meat packer out of Buffalo, N.Y. Awesome rings and fries and their Bomb Italian Sausage – unbelievable. Wash it all down with a Loganberry and you died and went to heaven.”

OUR PICKS
1. Brandi’s World Famous Hot Dogs
The AJC dining team’s Popular Eats specialist Jon Watson says, “Open only for lunch, you will always find this small diner-style hot dog shop in Marietta packed to the brim with regulars, and for good reason. Their spicy chili dogs are the epitome of a Georgia-style hot dog, and the best that I’ve had in the city.”

Rivals Hot Dogs in Loganville – they don’t do chicken, they don’t do burgers, and they don’t do sandwiches. They do hot dogs, and they do them GREAT! That pink slaw is the best of the best – you won’t find a better dog anywhere in the country!!

For those that eat at Sams and Costco you sure might as well be eating at the gas station on the coner. CJ’s in McDonough has the best dawgs around you should try the Big Dawg.

Varsity Chili Cheese Slaw Dog. I’ve been to New York and Chicago, they have some great dogs, but all you Yankees who act like they’re SO much better up north should go back there, and stay. Barkers Red Hots are excellent also.

Fuddruckers Dogzilla is wonderful. You all need to try it. Also, Sonics has a good footlong dog if you are looking for a good dog as well. The V is ok but not the best to me. Sometimes, they are little bit too raw for my taste. If you want a baby pup-try Krystals. They are pretty good when they are hot.

Rivals in Loganville is the best in town. The “Hail Mary” is the best food i have ever put in my mouth. Great polish sausage dogs and even the non-dog “water wienie” is fabulous. Doesn’t get any better.

I don’t partake of hotdogs much, but will take the kids to the Varsity or Brandi’s. I reckon my favorites are slaw dogs, slaw/chili dogs & (when I can find one) a Chicago style dog.

GA Girl, you actually have it the opposite: Atlantans/Georgians have NO idea what a good hot dog is, it’s not exactly a hot dog town like Chicago here. That said, I do like the Varsity, but Costco and Barkers are better, no doubt.

Face it, folks: the Varsity is all about the experience. It’s a fun place, and kids love it, but it’s the same caliber as a movie dog. Get real, people!
Mike’s in Sandy Springs knows what they’re doing, and the quality is there. Hot Dog Heaven in Woodstock is great too – they serve Vienna dogs – the real deal!
I dare any of you Varsity drones to taste a dog at either of the above places, then go back to the Varsity. You’re not gonna like it!

I ate at Yellow Jackets in Ellenwood about 10/11 years ago! Hands down, and they brag on being slow and taking their time preparing your food; and if you want fast food to go somewhere else. So i will have to say…Yellow Jackets. However, I am a bit frustrated because it is hard to find a good hot dog place down here…i am used to going to a “downtown” and seeing hot dog stands everywhere with tasty dogs and condiments…oh well…
