1. Harvest Moon Cafe in Rome

You say, “On Saturday at the Georgia game, I had some of Harvest Moon’s PC for the first time at a Rome tailgate. It was outrageously fabulous — probably the best I’ve ever had. Everybody was talking about it” and “Harvest Moon in Rome, GA has the absolute best pimento cheese! It’s called Wicked Pimina Cheese. If you haven’t tried it, then you need to make the drive up to Rome for lunch at Harvest Moon to try their pimento cheese. Definitely worth your time!”

And just one more note on Harvest Moon’s Wicked Pimina Cheese. It’s now available locally at Sawicki’s in Decatur.

2. Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta
3. Marti’s at Midday in Athens
4. Aubri Lane’s in Milledgeville

OUR PICKS

1.Home Grown GA

Jennifer Turknett, Food and More blogger on Southern cuisine, says, “Pimento cheese is taken to the next level at Home Grown GA.  The pimento cheese is spread on grilled Texas toast and then topped with bacon and fried green tomatoes to make a dish known as ‘Grant’s Stack.’  The bacon’s richness and the acidity from the tomatoes perfectly complement the pimento cheese. The warmth of the sandwich makes it deliciously gooey, yielding the ultimate comfort food.”

I wouldn’t say I’m an expert by any means, so be gentle! But I like the version at West Egg. They also put it in their grits and omelettes. :)

Marti’s is always a stop when in Athens, Whole foods to take home, and Young Augustine’s is my new favorite–comes with a variety of pickles and great bread.

I just went to Publix to try the Palmetto Farms Cheese, OH MY GOD !!!! That really is the best store bought cheese I ever tasted. Usually the store bought tastes bland, but this tastes GREAT and homemade. I don’t make homemade or know anybody that does. This is PURE HEAVEN.

1) The spelling is correct. Pimiento.
2) Marti’s at Midday- best ever. Worth the drive to Athens. Lunch at Martis- dinner at Five and Ten.
3) Marti’s has a recipe for their cheese online- i think its missing something but is still delicious!!!

Who would dare to even eat at Relish? It was a friggin Funeral Home for 50 years! I talked to a friend of mine whose father is an Under Taker and he said he wouldn’t dare dare dare eat there. Some things just NEVER get those germs out and the danger of the chemicals used. I heard that their kitchen is what used to be the embalming room. G-R-O-S-S!
