1. Harvest Moon Cafe in Rome

You say, “On Saturday at the Georgia game, I had some of Harvest Moon’s PC for the first time at a Rome tailgate. It was outrageously fabulous — probably the best I’ve ever had. Everybody was talking about it” and “Harvest Moon in Rome, GA has the absolute best pimento cheese! It’s called Wicked Pimina Cheese. If you haven’t tried it, then you need to make the drive up to Rome for lunch at Harvest Moon to try their pimento cheese. Definitely worth your time!”

And just one more note on Harvest Moon’s Wicked Pimina Cheese. It’s now available locally at Sawicki’s in Decatur.

OUR PICKS

1.Home Grown GA

Jennifer Turknett, Food and More blogger on Southern cuisine, says, “Pimento cheese is taken to the next level at Home Grown GA.  The pimento cheese is spread on grilled Texas toast and then topped with bacon and fried green tomatoes to make a dish known as ‘Grant’s Stack.’  The bacon’s richness and the acidity from the tomatoes perfectly complement the pimento cheese. The warmth of the sandwich makes it deliciously gooey, yielding the ultimate comfort food.”

Agree with Butterfly Girl…Whole Foods has a fantastic pimento cheese. BUT…the best I have ever had in a restaurant is at the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club. Lots of love is put into that sandwich. I moved away a few years ago, so not sure if they still serve p.c., or that they are even open, but if so, go check it out!

Just a side note…the yummiest way, I’ve found, to eat pimento cheese is a grilled pimento cheese on brown bread. Mmmmm!

Pimento Cheese fritters at Relish in Roswell are awesome. They’re battered and deep-fat fried and served with a pepper relish. You’ll never see a pimento cheese sandwich in the same light after eating these.

While the restaurant is not open yet, the best pimento cheese in Atlanta is at Kaleidoscope Bistro and Pub in Brookhaven, which will be opening the week after Thanksgiving. Anybody who went to Battle of the Burgers (which they won) and/or Taste of Brookhaven or Taste or Atlanta knows how awesome Chef Joey’s pimento cheese is.

The best I ever had was not from a restaurant or from a grocery store. It was, of all places, the gift shop/grill at the old hospital in Pickens County. I know it sounds strange but those ladies made them brilliantly! I’ve chased after their secret for years and never found it.

Add Drugs in Five Points Athens has an old-fashioned soda fountain that serves the best food in Athens–not to mention the wonderful service! While there, take advantage of the US Postal Service counter. This is the best-kept secret in Athens.

I agree that Palmetto Pimiento cheese (out of South Carolina) is the best store pimiento cheese. Costco sells it for a lot less than the grocery stores. All other store bought pimiento cheeses taste like wax.
