OUR PICKS
1. Pho Xe Lua
Gene Lee, Food and More blogger on international cuisine, says, “What makes Pho Xe Lua stand out above the rest is consistency. The broth is the most well rounded, and the side garnishes are always some of the freshest of the bunch. The meat quality is also top notch here, and this Hong Kong Supermarket food stall has a lot of pho combinations to choose from.”

Pho Bac on Buford Hwy but their service sucks. You’re lucky if you get your water refilled.
Saigon in Duluth was my favorite but some of their meat has a gamey taste.

I just discovered pho last year. What a great meal especially when it’s cold and rainy out.
I like Pho Bac, they have great bubble tea too.

Pho Hoang Long on Pat Mell by South Cobb in Marietta/Smyrna is pretty fantastic. They also serve other Vietnamese specialties and even some Thai dishes. There’s also a mini Asian grocery store attached to the restaurant that you can browse while you’re waiting for your food. Good service too.

I used to work next to a place in Norcross called Phoenix Noodle Cafe — this place had THE best pho in the city. Since they closed, I was devastated and set off on a quest to find the next best. I’ve been to every place on Buford Hwy and the surrounding areas… so far the only place to come close is Pho Dai Loi #2, the Buford Hwy location. BUT there is one caveat: you have to order your soup very specifically.
The trick is this: order the soup with the rare beef (eye of round), and ask for it RAW and ON THE SIDE. They’ll bring it to you on a plate. Having the beef cook IN your bowl, as opposed to being lightly cooked previously, then added in last minute before serving, adds an entirely new depth of flavor. It is the missing link! Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Pho Dai Loi was my favorite until “I Luv Pho” in Norcross opened. They are the best in town right now… not to mention they open 24/7.

Pho Bac on Bu Hi…I always get the largest size bowl so I can have a complete second meal the next day. Be sure and get something beef based and with the addition of tendon for an unbelievable unctuousness.

Saigon Basil on Piedmont Road is one of Atlanta’s best kept secrets! The Pho is great, but they also serve extremely fresh, amazingly good Thai food for a very affordable price!
