1. Historic Banning Mills (Whitesburg)

You say, “Historic Banning Mills in Whitesburg is a great place to get away from it all. The zipline canopy tour is the best I have experienced, and we love the big wraparound porch overlooking the gorge. Simply beautiful!”

1. Rabun County/Lake Burton

We say, “The unspoiled northeastern corner of Georgia is one of the state’s most gorgeous spots. The serene, picture-postcard beauty of Lake Burton, Lake Seed and Lake Rabun tops the list of reasons to visit this county at the southern tip of the Blue Ridge Mountains.”

2. Blairsville/Vogel State Park
3. Lake Oconee/Reynolds Plantation
4. Savannah

One of our favorite weekend getaways is an exceptional bed & breakfast in the little town of Hamilton, just a few miles south of Callaway Gardens. If you’re looking for tranquility, hospitality that you will not soon forget, and front-porch neighborliness, you will find it here.

I agree with the previous poster, ‘Rachel’. I cannot think of a better place to spend a night (or a few nights) than the Aska Lodge B & B in Blue Ridge. Bob and Mary Jo (the owners) do an incredible job and truly make you feel like family! We’ve stayed with them multiple times, and can’t wait to go back!

Barnsley Gardens – while we usually reserve this as a couple’s getaway close to home, we recently took our two elementary aged boys. From exploring the ruins, playing the many outdoor games set up on the center green, making smores, visit from the resort’s Fairy Godmother & multiple canoe rides, they both agreed it is their favorite place. My husband and I have always appreciated having such a quaint & picturesque place close by, I never ever thought my 6 year old would ask to stay there again for his birthday present!

I’m actually pretty fond of Jekyll Island but I have a lot of good memories associated with it. The beach there just kind of makes me feel like I’m not even in the same state. I have a thing for driftwood beaches and marshes over the typical pristine beaches you see in Florida.

The second place would have to be Tallulah Gorge and pretty much anywhere in Blue Ridge. I could literally just drive for days up there.

If you have never been to The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation, you are missing out on your new home away from home! My boyfriend and I spent three days of absolute heaven on Lake Oconee a few weeks ago! I am a “spa junkie” and cannot rave enough over the treatments this resort has to offer. We also love to eat on and off property while vacationing, but had no reason to leave because the food was delicious and the service outstanding. Our favorite dining was pool and lakeside at Gaby’s! We walked straight from the pool and endulged on lobster grilled cheese sandwiches! Trust me when I say, it is a trip you will never forget!!!

My girlfriends and I stayed in the Presidental House at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge in August. If anyone is looking for a private, 5 bedroom house with a private heated outdoor pool, you must travel to Greensboro, GA. They offered a Bar-be-que Butler who came to the Presidential House and cooked for all of us. We relaxed by the pool while the Chef catered to us! I will definitely plan my wedding at this resort and come back and stay at the Presidential House! Great fun!

Every year my kids beg me to go to The Ritz-Cartlon Lodge at Lake Oconee around the Holidays. They LOVE the larger than life Gingerbread House, Breakfast with Santa, and the Elf and Mrs. Claus tuck-ins. Every year is more specatcular than the last. The theme last year was a Candy Shop that my kids adored! The Lodge is lit with millions of twlinking lights the day before Thanksgiving (with a special reception to Light the Lodge for hotel guests) and is one of the most beautiful sites you will ever see. This hidden gem is one of a kind all year round, but the Holidays are extra special. The Lodge is truly a tradition that will create everylasting memories for kids of all ages.

Also, stop saying Helen. It is probably the most obnoxious, tacky, and classless place in the entire state (and that’s saying something for Georgia). By nominating Helen you are just admitting to the world that you are poorly educated, unworldly, middle-aged or elderly, and probably overweight.

The ONLY place to stay in the North GA mountains is Wilderness View Cabins, very luxurious and private, on top of Fort Mt. near Ellijay and Chattsworth. If you can only stay one night, the Overlook Inn is an upscaled B&B just up the road from the cabins. Robert and Liz Coleman are the owners and they ensure that your stay will be your best mountain visit ever!

Historic Banning Mills in Whitesburg, GA. For our 25th wedding anniversary we bought the package that included; great breakfast, wonderful gourmet dinner/wine brought to our cabin, zip line for two, and a massage for two. Easy to find and a wonderful staff.. the food is sensational and the scenic beauty of the creek and walking trails can’t be beat.

My vote is for Historic Banning MIlls. I had never heard of this resort until I attended a Leadership Retreat there. My first experience on the zip line and it was great. Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa.
Great 18 hole golf course, Equestrian Facility and a world class spa. The food is great and the staff unbelievably friendly. No hooty tooty resort. Just a great palce toe relax, refresh and renew. Nestled in the North Georgia Mountains near Young Harris Georgia, the scenery is not that bad either. If you cannot find enough to do on property, three whitewater rivers are withing a 45 minute drive as well as Helen , Lake Burton, fantastic Georgia wineries , the Appalachian Trail , numerous waterfalls and unique shooping are a quick trip away.

The best getaway that my husband and I have ever been to in Georgia is the Cedar House Inn and Yurts in Dahlonega. We went there for a mini honeymoon and loved it so much that we went back with our family a few weeks later. The hosts are kind and welcoming, the location is tranquil yet accessible to lots of things to do in the area, and the rooms are really cozy. We stay at B&B’s around the globe, but this place is always fondest in our memories.

Definitely Historic Banning Mills. It’s a breath taking piece of heaven. You couldn’t ask for a better getaway. They have everything from adventure to relaxation. My husband and I decided to take a last minute mini vacation earlier this year. We spent 2 nights in a Jacuzzi Room which had a huge, comfortable King bed, a double Jacuzzi Tub, and a deck that overlooked the beautiful creek. We were kind of skeptical at first due to it being a little far from where we were (about 3 hours), but it was well worth the drive!! We did horseback riding, kayaking, took a nice nature walk on the historic trails, had a couples massage, a delicious Romantic Dinner, Breakfast each morning, and best of all the Zip Line Canopy Tours. We originally signed up for just the Pattern Tour, but we were enjoying our time so much that we upgraded to the Full Extreme Package. We were so glad we did!! What a thrill it was! The Screaming Eagle Zip Line was so AWESOME!!!

It is so rich with history as well and they have so many pictures of the old town that was once there. The Owner, Mike, talked to us about how this town was the first to get electricity in Georgia. People would travel for hours just to come see the mills when the lights were turned on. Mike and his wife Donna were so friendly and informative about the history. They made our stay so much more enjoyable with the kindness they showed.

We recommend this place to everyone we know. If you haven’t experienced Banning Mills, you are missing out on the best place ever!!

Barnsley Gardens Resort is awesome. The flowers, the cute cottages, Fairy!, the history. The Ruins are so beautiful. Sometimes in the summer and fall they have free live music and dancing in the Ruins. I just looked on the website and the next one is October 30th. It’s a great date locale.

And since I’m a history nerd, Dahlonega is great too. Love the Gold Museum. For the kids – panning for gold. For the adults – WINE (well not at the Gold Museum but the nearby Georgia wineries).

There is so much to do there too – from horseback riding, golf, hunting and clay shooting to relaxing at the spa or hiking on the many trails – it’s the perfect couples getaway or great for all of your friends. And they have a Fairy Godmother who will help you plan the most romantic and unforgettable surprise for your special someone. I also love how there are so many wineries there too – perfect way to spend a Saturday if you ask me. We totally dig Historic Banning Mills zip line adventure. It is very unique and affordable. The instructors were very patient with all us newbies and the stress safety above all!
Also, we dig the Broad River Outpost right outside of Athens, GA. It is a real laid back unassisted river ride. They provide all equipment and they offer two different routes and transport from the take in/out back to the outpost. Booze is allowed, but be warned that the DNR has been known to hang out in the trees.

Labor Day Weekend was a fabulous getaway to Banning Mills. Stayed 2 nights in a really cute cabin with jacuzzi tub, back deck overlooking the woods. The ziplining was a great adventure! Wonderful hiking trails along the creek and thru the ruins of the old mills. Horseback riding, swimming in the huge pool, picnicking out on the rocks, paddleboating on the little lake. There were five of us that came to experience Georgia zip lines. I was so impressed with the heights and lengths of all of them! We were lucky to have fantastic weather and it felt so cool to be sailing from tree to tree. Yes it was “DEFINATELY” worth it! I would love to do it again, especially in the fall! They offer all the amenities one could want from dinning-in room service to prepared box lunches. It is so peaceful to just be there and walk around and do nothing if you so choose. Some of the most beautiful scenery ALL year long. If you haven’t been there then you must go and you’ll be totally pleased with it all. Excellent on-site staff. Easy access from anywhere in Atlanta but still country. It’s a hidden secret you must share will ALL of your friends, you and they both will be glad you did. I can’t recommend this Executive Retreat enough and every stay is totally different from previous stays because they have sooooo much to offer

Banning Mills Retreat & Adventure Center is a must visit. Positives: Less than 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta, outdoor adventure that is unparalleled in the value received, quiet, excellent restaurant, and at the end of the trip you don’t have that long drive home that seems to always bring you down. Negatives: You might want to go back sooner than you expected. This is something for all ages (not kidding..my wife and I are over 50 and we were with “kids” in their 30’s gliding through the canopy.) http://www.historicbanningmills.com

Historic Banning Mills in Whitesburg, GA is absolutly the best weekend getaway in GA. The tree canopy ZipLine Tours are the most insane fun you can have. This place has the longest, highest and fastest zip lines, kyaking, horseback riding, hiking just to name a few activities. They have a cabins and a neat hotel for the overnight. Banning Mills is run by the nicest family I have ever met. My teen age boys love flying through the air and to see the wonderful fall trees from the top of the trees is not to be missed. This is located between Newnan and Carrollton and you will not regret the visit. You MUST go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Banning Mills just outside of Atlanta, GA. A family friendly vacation for either a long weekend or a long vacation. So much to do: horseback ride, Canapy Tour (zipline), swim, hike, mini golf, bird watch, tour nearby towns, dine in or take to room, many accomodations to choose from. Their family is wonderful and the staff is all like a big happy family ready to assist in ANY way possible. The chef prepared meals are wonderful and you can tell prepared with care. I took my father (81 yo)who had cancer and it was one of the best vacations, they accommodated his every need and mom and I. He passed on August 4th, still remembering the wonderful time we had at Banning Mills months before. Truely pictures and memories we all will remember forever. He walked more miles than a teenager in the woods and around the river, even came to see me zipline and take pictures.

Historic Banning Mills is a perfect place for a retreat for individuals, organizations or corporations. You have access to anything you might need, the food is very good, the scenery and exciting activities like the canopy and zip line are incredible, all in an historic setting, one of Georgia’s first and busiest industrial complexes served by the Central of Georgia Railway (now Norfolk Southern) and electricity, before that was the norm. And, yes, the lodging and meeting accomodations are way above average!

Historic Banning Mills was a great experience, I sent my daughter for her 21st birthday with her sister for the Extreme Zip lines, they had the greatest time, they took their friends, and then recommended my husband and I go. The people there were great, very friendly and the scenery was unbeatable. The experience of riding a zip line is a thrill hard to describe. talking to guests of banning mills they were very pleased with all it has to offer. I am going to stay at the Bed and Breakfast soon. I suggest you check it out online, they have many things to offer. Something for everyone. We were smiles and talked about it for hours on the drive home…. Banning Mills is one of my favorite places. Riding the zip lines is beautiful this time of year. My other would be my motorcycle route starting in Dahlonaga on highway 60, taking a right at the famous “rock pile” to highway 19. Left on 19 through the beautiful twisting road towards Blood Mountain. Then continuing on to Blairsville to highway 64 where I take a left turn back to where highway 60 intersects it. Then the long, winding road on highway 60, through the mountains with their fall leaves in full glory and onward my starting point.

I would have to agree with several post here with the Banning Mills ZIpline Tours! If you want to get your heart racing, Six Flags has nothing on this place (not to take away from our home town Theme Park). Throwing yourself off of the Screaming eagle zipline (on purpose) will really test your sanity. I cannot believe that this place has been right next to Carrolton all these years!!! The cables are very safe, but very high, and you can tell that the tour guides have safety as their #1 objective. Try it out at least once!!!!!!

I hosted my 60th birthday there and took fourteen friends on the zip line tour. We enjoyed the fantastic views from the newly-built lodge and ate sumptious food, and the view from the zip line was breathtaking. Just fifteen minutes from Carrollton or Newnan, it was perfectly located for friends nearby and those who stayed in the cabins. The trees there now are gorgeous, too. Located just an hour from Atlanta it’s a great day trip, too. Great place to check one more thing off your “bucket list”.

Historic Banning Mills is definitely one of Georgia’s hidden treasures. Lucky for me, it was only a 30 minute drive, but now that I have discovered this special place, I would drive three hours for the experience. There is so much history on this property. I have not been able to talk my husband into trying the ZipLine experience, but our friends say it is awesome! Oh, and the food is wonderful!
Thanks Mike and Donna for all that you do to preserve this historical treasure.

You should definitely visit the Helen area! Just over an hour north of Atlanta, the alpine village is quaint and filled with eclectic shops where you can fill several days browsing and enjoying funnel cake and German fare. There’s putt putt, tubing, horse-and-buggy rides, Mt Yonah hiking, Anna Ruby Falls and, just a few miles away, the best ziplining in the state.

I’ve been to pretty much every zipline in Georgia and Sunburst Stables has the best overall experience. Ziplining is a blast, no matter where you go, but Sunburst has beautiful views, thrilling ziplines, super-friendly staff, easy traversing that doesn’t require excessive exertion to access, even an included petting zoo – and is priced well below the average at only $50. That’s a crazy good value! My 11-year-old loved zipping upside down and there were no gloves necessary for stopping. Throw in a leisurely horseback ride through gorgeous national park trails and it’s barely $20 more! That’s wholesome, affordable fun. Stay in Sunburst Stables’ cozy cabins with jacuzzis on the deck and make a budget-friendly, family weekend of it! :)

Historic Banning Mills B and B is the best place for a getaway! My two sisters and I stayed at this Georgia Country Inn and Retreat Center which has the best amenities and fun packed adventure activities. There was so much to see and do including a zip line over the Snake Creek Gorge, beautiful nature and hiking trails, onsite Day Spa, kayaking, horse riding, and many other wonderfull things to do like just rocking on the back porch of the lodge looking at the beautiful fall trees. We plan to go back again real soon!!!!

I tried Zip linning for the first time. It was at a place that was only 16 miles from my house and they don’t advertise. I never knew it was there! A bunch of people want to go and we did. Wow! They have the fastest in the world and the second longest. I didn’t try the Screaming Eagle but will try it the next time I go. The place is located in Whitesburg, GA and is called Bannining Mills and the the staff was great. The whole experience was top notch….! The view of the grounds from the tops of the trees…can’t be matched. Google them and see what you think:)

Best getaway in and around Atlanta is boating or just hangin out on LAKE LANIER! When you get on the lake racing across it or just anchored in a nice cove, the busy world seems to stop. We are so blessed to have this awesome man made lake just 40 minutes north from downtown Atlanta. The parks, tranquility and natural wonder of this lake is still a secret to many natives so save your gas, cmon up and visit the many parks and recreation facilities around lake lanier. This Lake is a man made marvel. Port Royale and Paradise Boat Rentals still have many boats available to rent at an awesome deal and the weather and the fall colors are working to give us a spectacular fall show! Lake Lanier Gear has an awesome array of long sleeve t’s and souvenirs. Lake Lanier Islands Resort has great events planned for the holidays. You can’t beat being lakeside and unsalted it just doesn’t get any better than this!

I love Historic Banning Mills in Whitesburg, GA. Its probably an hour drive south of Atlanta and has so much to offer. You can choose to stay in a cabin or their lodge. Walk the scenic woods over a beautiful river, or zip tie over it. They have plenty to do for a family or a nice romantic getaway and their prices can’t be beat. My family goes there every fall and we enjoy Putt-Putt and hiking on the trails. You can also rent movies from the lodge or play on the pool table. They have a full service breakfast each morning where you can look out the tall glass windows at the changing leaves. I definitely recommend it as a quick, affordable place to relax.

If you crave some thrills, lots of fresh air and exercise that’s the place to go! I would definitely do it again and bring my son and husband. I wish they had some family package deals cause it can be pricey when there is a group.

Splendor Mountain in Tiger GA is wonderful. Beautiful accomodations in the exquisitely appointed cottages with all ammenities, woodsy walking trails, private lake for swimming, canoeing etc. Sunsets are gorgeous on the mountains. We had my daughter’s wedding there and it was beautiful and everyone thought it the best wedding venue they’d seen.
True relaxation at it’s best and close to nearby activities. A must see.

Pigeon Forge was booked up so we rented a river-side cabin in Elijay,GA instead and it was by far the best time we’ve ever had on vacation. Ziplining at North Georgia Canopy Tours (www.northgeorgiacanopytours.com) is a one-of-a-kind experience and awesome in every way. A very close second would be Whitewater Rafting on the Ocoee River (http://www.rollingthunderriverco.com/) – by far the best time we’ve had rafting. Forget Pigeon Forge, we did ;)

Head for the hills to North Georgia Canopy Tours. At this time of year you’ll go ziplining through the brilliant foliage from station to station with a wonderfully preserved natural setting all around you. The guides are friendly (great with kids) and share lots of interesting facts about the vegetation and how the Indians made use of the plants. The experience is awesome. The whole operation is designed to protect and care for the environment and to make sure you have the best time. And we did!!!

North Georgia Canopy Tours is by far the best Zipline in the state. However, I have done both Banning Mills and NGCT. Banning Mills is pretty boring as it is just a zipline ride. You do all the clipping and unclipping yourself which makes an extreme safety hazard. This is what the guides are trained to do at North Georgia Canopy Tours, making them very safe and professional. North Georgia Canopy Tours is a zipline course from tree top to tree top without the work of climbing extensive steps to get to the top of towers as Banning Mills does. My kids did have fun at Banning Mills but let’s be honest, kids that want to zipline have no care about the ‘historic’ component of the experience. I am already planning a trip back to NGCT because of the family friendly environment and the awesome guides. These guys really make your tour enjoyable. If you haven’t done NGCT, you MUST!

Historic Banning Mills is the best place to go for a weekend getaway. It’s away from the world, back in the country where nobody can find you, the perfect way to get away from the hectic everyday life. Perfect for the everyday businessman or or anyone that has a lot on their plate, it’s so easy to just get away from the world here. If you are still having trouble getting away from the world then try riding the zip lines, they are amazing! Historic Banning Mills has the largest continuous eco-canopy zip line tour in the world which includes the Screaming Eagle Zip Line, it is 2400 feet long (about half a mile) goes on average 70 miles an hour! If this can’t get you to forget about work then nothing can. I can guarantee that you will love the zip lines and you will forget about all of your troubles. It is even the perfect place for action adventure, adrenaline junkies (like me) because there is nowhere else you can find such a rush, flying through the trees is so exhilarating and fun. I highly recommend Historic Banning Mills.

The guides are at your side through out the entire tour making sure you understand everything you need to know. You move along at a comfortable pace. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Dahlonega is my favorite. There’s lots to do within walking distance on the square, and within driving distance when you want to get out in the mountains/see the scenery. You can choose from country food, casual, BBQ, fine dining – and the square has lots of music at night and during the day. The choice of places to stay is amazing. I’ve stayed in a basic room/private bath/balcony with view in a lodge at Forrest Hills Resort with all its amenities for the same price/less than a room at a chain hotel on the highway.

Our favorite weekend getaway is Banning Mills in Whitesburg. It’s not far from where we live, and there’s plenty to do, plus it’s beautiful, quiet, and full of history. The cabins are relaxing, and we spent an anniversary weekend where we had dinner brought to our room. It was like eating a delicious home-cooked meal in privacy, but I didn’t have to cook or clean up! I definitely recommend Banning Mills as an Atlanta getaway, even if you’re not into zip lining, though that’s a big draw for some people!

This place has anything and everything for the true outdoors and nature loving person(s). From their gorgeous hiking trails that seem to lead you into another world during a simpler time, crossing bridges and walking beside beautiful, flowing rivers. To flying through the trees on one of the BEST Zip-Line and Eco-Canopy Tours – if you have never been zip-lining, you have to go because you will fall in love with the breathtaking view and the extreme hobby that I now love
= ) They have horseback riding that takes you through hiking trails, kayaking that sends you down the beautiful rivers and lodges that you can stay in to be closer to nature. Not to mention the personable staff that works there and the amazing, friendly and funny guides that take you out during the Zip-Line Tours. This place is a must and will be a place I visit as many times as I can! I Especially plan on making the going zip-lining a yearly event!

Best price for Georgia zipline or horseback trail rides? By far, it is Sunburst Stables near Helen. Best zipline experience? Not sure, since I haven’t tried the others, but Sunburst sure was fun and also pretty. Best staff? Couldn’t be nicer than Mark and Becky. We felt like they gave us an individual experience that we wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else.

There seem to be alot of recommendations on here, so I’m sure they’re all good, but I am pretty frugal and want the best value for my $. The cabins were $99 and the activities were inexpensive. My family had a fantastic time and I was happy in my wallet when we left. To me, that’s my perfect vacation.

Had never tried “the Zip” before North Ga Canopy Tours. It was great to do the tour, hike at nearby waterfalls and enjoy the fall spirit on N.Ga. There may be other places, but I couldn’t have been more impressed with the whole operation. We have a teenage son that thinks being with his parents is cruel and unusual punishment. Not in this case! Plus, the rural country back road experience was a bonus.

Banning Mills gets my vote! The zip lines are awesome and challenging. Didn’t know if I could do the extreme, but I made it! Loved the atmosphere at the lodge and peaceful overnight stay. Dinner was absolutely delicious! We didn’t do everything there is to do at Banning – just didn’t have time on this trip, but will definitely be going back. I enjoyed the museum room that told about Banning’s history. It made me appreciate the hard work all the more that’s gone into preserving the historic aspect of the location. I vote for Banning!

Historic Banning Mills is mine and my wife’s favorite place in the world to be. We have stayed there many times over the years. Even when it was known by other names. Since Mike and Donna have taken over the place, It has improved even more. It is quiet, secluded, gated ( I built the gate ), but has all of the amenities of a 5 star resort. I can’t wait until we can get back there again. It’s like being home for us. Tony and Beverly Means

All I can say is thank goodness I went to Banning Mills LAST weekend because I think they’re going to be quite booked up now! Even tho yeah, the Facebook page for Banning Mills asked its users to come on here, I do have to admit I had a blast and probably would’ve written them in anyway. I am terrified of heights… or was. We don’t get paid anything for coming on here and saying it was an incredible time, which it was. The place is really beautiful. The lodge is really warm and cozy. Would be a great family getaway. Lots to do. Hiking, kayaking, and of course, ziplining. I really was afraid of heights. Hated getting up on my 3 step step-ladder and I managed to do 3 hours of zip lining and sky bridges. I couldn’t believe how it felt like the mountains, even tho it’s southeast of Carrolton.

My very favorite getaway tho is going up to Blue Ridge, hiking the Benton MacKaye, then heading to Mercier’s for fried pies. A close second is heading down to Indian Springs State Park, then mountain biking over at Dauset Trails. In Georgia, there are so many options you have no excuse not to be out and having fun every weekend!!

We recently went to Historic Banning Mills. the initial reason for going there was for the Screaming Eagle Eco Zip line. The staff was top notch and while the intent was for the guests to enjoy themselves, Safety was always a top priority. While there my wife and I got to tour the facilities at the resort. It is now on our To-Do list the next time we are in the area.
A beautiful and inviting lobby and restaurant greets you as you enter the building. There are tables outside which offer breath taking views of the mountians. If you happen to be eating outside at the right time you can see some of the guests passing overhead on one of the zip lines.

The rooms are beautiful in a very quiet setting. For relazation you can visit the spa to be pampered. For the adventurous, there is of course the Zip Lines. They also offer packages which allow one to enjoy kayaking, and hiking To go along with peaceful, scenic surroundings.
Needless to say we will be back for a longer stay on our next visit.

Recently had class reunion in my hometown of Toccoa, Ga. It is at the foothills of North Ga and has many points of interest. Downtown in Toccoa is the renovated Train Depot which now is the home of the Military Museum. Also downtown is Sosebee’s hotdogs a landmark in Toccoa since 1921. Toccoa is also the home of the Barbecue Shack on Hwy 17 heading out of Toccoa toward I 85. While visiting Toccoa be sure to see Beautiful Toccoa Falls 186 ft high. Your stay in Toccoa will be complete when you check in to the Historical Simmons-Bond Bed and Breakfast. Me and 4 other classmates stayed with them during our reunion weekend. Accommodations were great, southern hospitality at it’s best. The breakfast was delicious and would definitely stay there again!!!!

I have been there twice – the first time was during their Taste of Toccoa weekend – not only is the Inn a wonderful place, but the Innkeeper Elizabeth is also an accomplished cook and cake decorator. The breakfasts were gourmet fare served in courses and it was wonderful! If I had opportunity to go there this weekend – I would go in a heartbeat!

The Historic Banning Mills is our favorite get-away in Georgia. We have hardly any drive time and we feel like we are in another state when we visit this quaint, remote, yet close place. People drive from many surrounding states to get to Banning Mills, and we love the fact that we are only 45 minutes away. Nothing beats the thrill of the zip lines and sky bridges at the beautiful Historic Banning Mills. they have a little of whatever you need to have fun and get away from it all. If you want you can bring the whole family. The great view you get while zipping over the top of the tallest trees and over the top of the mountain through the wooded valleys and down the creek. We had a great time at the North GA Canopy Zipline tour this fall. We got to go on 12 zip lines and had a lot of fun. The guides were really fun, engaging us. Would definitely do it again!

I hear that Banning Mills and N GA Canopy tours are great :) , but you really can’t beat our state parks. Cloudland Canyon, in Dade County, is gorgeous with plenty of hiking trails, camping, or cabins. Vogel, Unicoi, Amicalola Falls, and Fort Mountain are also great getaways. All these parks showcase the beauty of Fall in GA.

KG – you are an absolute snotty drip….. so what if people want to go to Helen? Get over your elite self. And FYI, you can find tackiness anywhere, including Savannah….. actually, your comment about Helen is the height of tacky snobbery. Tourism anywhere in the state brings in tax money, and it’s a pretty drive up there, so get over it. My favorite place is anywhere KG is not!

I don’t think anyone is “spamming” it looks like long lists of happy customers that can only come from hard work and dedication.

Banning Mills is an awesome retreat: beautiful lodge, best canopy tour/zip lines in North America, small mouth bass fishing on the river, and excellent steak and trout almondine delivered to your lodge room with candles and a basket. I go back at least once a year with my wife and also for my company retreat.

Steven was our tour guide on the zip tour and he made our trip fun because he was so much fun. Everybody on staff was always smiling. Blue Ridge. No zip line (HA!) but the beautiful ASKA Lodge B&B with lovely hosts and a gorgeous view. Close to activities such as horse back riding, white water rafting, shopping, and of course the GA/TN state line in the middle of the street in McCaysville.(!)

One of North Georgia Mountains best kept “secrets” is The Lodge at Copperhill…..located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia, outside of Blairsville. Perfect place to recharge your batteries and just relax.

I have a tie!! Banning Mill in Whitesburg for extreme fun! We loved the zip lines and high bridges, definitely an adrenaline rush. Beautiful scenery especially in the fall. I vote for Barnsley Gardens for pampering and really nice accomodations. Both are close to home, beautiful, and very relaxing.

I read the comment “Smell A Rat” Banning Mills Operators spamming. I assure you I live in Pinson Alabama and would recommend Banning Mills to anyone (which I do on a regular basis). At age 65, my family and I plan a return trip. Great way to stay young.
