You say, “Historic Banning Mills in Whitesburg is a great place to get away from it all. The zipline canopy tour is the best I have experienced, and we love the big wraparound porch overlooking the gorge. Simply beautiful!”

1. Rabun County/Lake Burton

We say, “The unspoiled northeastern corner of Georgia is one of the state’s most gorgeous spots. The serene, picture-postcard beauty of Lake Burton, Lake Seed and Lake Rabun tops the list of reasons to visit this county at the southern tip of the Blue Ridge Mountains.”

The Zipline tour at Banning Mills near Carrollton is AWESOME. They have the longest zipline in United States called the The Screaming Eagle. A little pricey but worth it all…just wish you go do each zip line TWICE!!!!

Historic Banning Mills. It is great. Awesome variety of Zip Lines and rope courses. Great outdoor adventure nestled at a B&B with cottages and cabins. Great place for a work meeting too. You MUST visit this place! http://www.historicbanningmills.com It is only 45 min from Atlanta. They even have kayak trios, horse back rides, and full spa/massage packages. It is especially gorgeous this time of year.

We totally dig Historic Banning Mills zip line adventure. It is very unique and affordable. The instructors were very patient with all us newbies and the stress safety above all!
Also, we dig the Broad River Outpost right outside of Athens, GA. It is a real laid back unassisted river ride. They provide all equipment and they offer two different routes and transport from the take in/out back to the outpost. Booze is allowed, but be warned that the DNR has been known to hang out in the trees.

For the adventurous there is Historic Banning Mills in Whitesburg GA. They have the tallest and longest ZIP lines east of the Mississippi (over 5 miles total from tree to trees to the amazing Screaming Eagle that is 3600 feet long). My fiance’ and I shared a wonderful, exciting fun filled weekend. We loved the lodge and the the staff is wonderful. Check out their website with the thrilling videos.

My husband and I had an awesome time at Historic Banning Mills. We can’t wait to go back and zipline. Even if you are not an adventurer you will have a blast. The scenary is absolutely beautiful and the rush of excitment that you get when you zipline is fantastic. And for those whose are not into the high speed thrill of ziplining they have a fantastic nature trail that takes you along side of a gorgeous river. We are hoping to make arrangements to go back next year for our anniversary and we can’t wait. Thank you to all of the wonderful people that we met that work at Historic Banning Mills you are fabulous!

The Lodges at Historic Banning Mills!
You can fly over 60 mph on the half-mile long Screaming Eagle zip line, navigate five miles of zip lines and suspended tree walk bridges, watch birds of prey shows, go horseback riding, go kayaking, swim in an Olympic-sized pool, relax at a a spa and hit the links at a private mini-golf course…World’s largest, continuous zip line eco-canopy tour less than an hour from Atlanta? I’m sold!

I just love the town of Dahlonega. The down town area is quaint and offers great shopping and dining. I took my friends from Germany there in September and we had dinner in the Crimson Moon Cafe overlooking the square. What a great place to visit!

I had an UNBELIEVABLE experience flying through the pines on a zip line at Historic Banning Mills in Whitesburg. I was with a large group celebrating my sisters 50th birthday, the staff was so accomindating and fun. The property is a nice secluded weekend get away but could easily manage a corporate group as well. A place not to miss!

Historic Banning Mills is unbelievable! Who knew you could escape from the city with such a short drive….You really have to try the canopy zip line tour…our family did the three hour tour to celebrate one of our son’s birthday…..we wished we could have done the longer tour but had to get two of our sons back to campus :( ….The scenery was breathtaking, the staff epitomized southern hospitality!
