Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q is on a roll. Last week, they were tops in all-around barbecue. This week, the DeKalb Ave. restaurant takes the No. 1 spot on your list of Atlanta's best places for chili. Photo: Becky Stein / Special

Food and beverage writer Bob Townsend says, “Rocco’s is all about chili. Winner of numerous chili cook-off competitions, it’s served up by the cup, bowl or super bowl, with or without beans, layered on corn chips for chili pie and ladled on pasta for chili mac.”

I’ve lived in Atlanta all my life, but I can’t recall eating chili at a restaurant other than at the Varsity as a topping for a dog. I’m interested to hear what alternatives there are to home-made chili in Atlanta.

The best chili is at my house. That’s non-negotiable. Sorry it’s not a restaurant.

The cafe at the High Museum has some of the best chili I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant in Atlanta. I’ve had it twice.

Rocco’s pub in Marietta has won many well deserved awards. I did prefer the old (kinda sketchy) location a bit better, but the chili is the best.

To tell the truth, I really haven’t found any good chili in Atlanta. Found it lots of places in Texas, and Dixon’s Chili in Kansas City is unique but good. Cincinnati chili (really Greek spaghetti) isn’t bad either. Unfortunately, the best chili I’ve found in Atlanta is a chain – Wendy’s.

Wendy’s. Cant believe I would nominate fast food but Restaurant chili usually isn’t as good as homemade. All tastes like canned Hormel except Wendy’s.

I have been told that My chili is the best there is. Even people that used to prefer Ayisha’s chili now like mine. As far as restaurants go….There aren’t any that I know of.

Wow, I’ve lived here all my life too and I certainly haven’t had any decent chili at any restaurants. When I want chili I make it myself. And, yay, it’s starting to cool off a bit, so maybe I’ll whip some up later!!!

@ Jason- I love Super Jenny’s. Each day they have a different menu. There staple item that never changes though is their turkey chili. It is pretty darn good. Normally, I like so many other’s, don’t really go out for Chili. If you do though, try this place. It is Buckhead right next to Stout. The lunch line can get a little crazy. Just fair warning. You should go on Grilled Cheese night, which is when they have a variety of different grilled cheeses that go absolutely perfect with their turkey chili. Hope this helps!

theres really no GREAT chili in the south, but if you want good chili just go to cincinnati and have a “Skyline 4way” or a cheese coney. It doesnt get and stay cold enough in the south to eat chili like up north

Steak n Skake has a great chili and a large bowl is $3. Krystal chili is not bad for a quick fix as well.
Taco Mac chili is pretty good but mostly I just make mine at home.

It depends on what you are using it for… The best topper chili is at Krystals. I love their Chili Cheese Fries. If I want a bowl of chili I usually go to either Jason’s Deli or McCallister’s Deli. McCallister’s is decent chili but the best part is that it is served in a bread bowl. Jason’s chili is just plain good.
