Waffle House is your pick for the best hangover breakfast. After all, they're slinging those hash browns 24/7 and there seems to be one on every corner.

OUR PICKS
Food and beverage writer Bob Townsend says, “As a hangover cure, the traditional Irish breakfast — a groaning mass of eggs, Irish sausages and bacon, black pudding, white pudding, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms and bread — has its own decadent appeal. That’s particularly true when it’s served up with a pint. At Fado, all that can be had day or night.”

I like to go to Waffle House when I’m hungover. It’s a combination of greasy food, cheap eats, close proximity to where ever I crashed and lack of required dress attire. Let me explain, first off I always crave eggs after a night of drinking. And if I’m that hungover where I need food now, then I must have spent a ton of money – so I need to go somewhere cheap. I swear, there’s a Waffle House every other intersection in the south, so there’s always one close by. Lastly, let’s be honest, Waffle House is not known for it’s upscale environment – so I’m usually either in my pajamas or in the alcohol stained, cigarette smelling clothes from last night. With my smudged makeup still on and I fit right in. Only downfall, there’s usually a wait but it’s much shorter there than anywhere else on a weekend morning.

Ambience: Front Page News for ambience with sitting in the courtyard, listening to the jazz band, and having a bloody mary from the bloody mary bar (when I’m hungover I just have them do it for me) – but the food sucks.

The big question is not so much where to find the best breakfast, but where to find a restaurant with bar stools that don’t keep falling over. Strange how the bar stools at Dennys are quite stable during daylight hours and early evening. At some point during the evening, they seem to be a mite woobly…come daylight and they’re once again quite stable.

I dunno. When I have a hang over, I don’t want to drive OR ride any further than I have to. This is Atlanta, there’s an Awful Waffle on the corner close by no matter WHERE in Atlanta you are. I’d have to vote Awful Waffle. I mean Waffle House.
Besides, they are used to dealing with drunks and hung over people. The waitresses are careful not to pop their gum loudly in your ear and step away before they scream your order to the cook………..

I’m sad for the individuals who are so lacking a sense of perspective that they react to a casual discussion about hangover remedies. As we get older, the game we talk is usually better than the game we play, but many of us will stay out a bit late and have a bit too much to eat/drink. (And, no, we don’t all club hop in Buckhead and weave our way home drunk. ) Sunday morning comfort food is a critical discussion topic.
DUI accidents are serious business and need to be treated accordingly, but trying to squeeze the all of the fun out of life will continue to cost you credibility.
