I’m a small-plates kind of man more than a burger-and-fries type. Bearing that in mind, I think 5 Seasons is where it’s at. In particular, I dig the housemade pretzel, which is a perfect accompaniment to their maltier beers. But all of them are great, really. Can’t comment on Westside, but Prado and Alpharetta are both solid in this department (though Prado has the better beer).

Honorable mention goes to Brick Store Pub for their pretzel, their AMAZING bratwurst, and their cheese plates.

Oh, I forgot something. When I DO want a burger, then I think Cypress Street Pint and Plate is where it’s at. Forget Taco Mac and Wild Wing. They have competent burgers, I guess. But Cypress St.’s version of the Luther (with two, count them, TWO, Sublime Doughnuts) is the most over the top thing you’ll ever try. But it tastes great. All of their burgers do, really. The appetizers are all quite good, too.

To me a chicken wing is a chicken wing….

For drinks and grub at a reasonable price, SIX FEET UNDER.

My favorite Gastro Pub though is The Porter!! The beer and the food are excellent!!

Gotta admit, if you want it fried, Six Feet Under is your place. Great chicken fingers, onion rings, and hush puppies. Spiny–that’s what comes to mind when I think of their food. Super battered goodness.

Their shrimp and grits are great, too.

Porter. Hands down. There isn’t a pub in Atlanta that serves food with the quality and creativity that place does. I can get a good beer in a lot of places, but not food like that…and it is the same cost as most pub-grub. Stick with the specials as the regular menu more closely resembles that of typical pubs.

The Porter in Little Five Points, described by some as a riff on the Brick Store’s formula, has not quite the beer list of the Brick Store (but really, not many people delve that deeply into the beer selection anyway). The Porter’s menu, however, is VASTLY superior to the Brick Store’s thoroughly pedestrian fare. The Porter is where you’ll find Atlanta’s best pub grub.

I want to say the Vortex, but the Brick Store Pub is in its own league. Great burger and even better fish and chips.

BTW, if the pub won’t cook your burger to order (medium rare for me), then they should be disqualified.

I have to go with the Marlay House and the Brick Store in Decatur, although Mac McGee’s has the best fish and chips.

Brockett Pub!!!! This little place in Clarkston is awesome. They have the best weekly specials and a very good selection of beers. Their wings are the best and they make a mean hamburger.
