Food and beverage writer Bob Townsend says, “A sanctuary of cocktail art, recently named among Esquire magazine’s ‘Best Bars in America,’ H&F boasts one of Atlanta’s best chefs, Linton Hopkins, who favors manly, meaty stuff, such as pig’s ear bologna and pepper-crusted veal hearts. A cult following has grown up around H&F’s strict practice of serving only 24 double patty cheeseburgers each night at 10 p.m.

I know I gave props to Cypress for their Luther early on (and they are great), but wow, George’s makes an excellent burger! Probably the best “conventional” burger one can have in ATL. Gotta be the grill.

Agreed on Rocco’s…best chili around. All sorts of great fried stuff to go with it. Great fries…and even a gyro that the ladies in the crowd seem to like a lot.

Kind of old schooler here, can anyone reccomend a steak & kidney pie around here? I’d settle even for a steak & mushroom or a good sheppard’s pie place.

Mazzy’s is awesome. Especially The Roswell Rd location. If you like lots of hi-def tvs, great sports atmosphere (or family), and good food with great sized portions…….all for $8 and under??? Mazzy’s is the place to go!!!

Marlow’s Tavern definitely. They have excellent fries, wings, and burgers, but they also have great steaks and fish tacos. I have had some issues with the service in Midtown, but the food is scrumptious.

Moe’s and Joe’s is my choice. The bar is the best Braves bar in town if you can’t make the game, the beer is cold and cheap, and the food is cheap and greasy…just like any pub grub should be.

The Porter in Little Five Points, described by some as a riff on the Brick Store’s formula, has not quite the beer list of the Brick Store (but really, not many people delve that deeply into the beer selection anyway). The Porter’s menu, however, is VASTLY superior to the Brick Store’s thoroughly pedestrian fare. The Porter is where you’ll find Atlanta’s best pub grub.

Overall, The Porter. But, since so many people have mentioned burgers, and I have yet to see The Earl mentioned, do yourself a favor and get an Earl Burger. The best burger in town. If you do not believe me, The Wall St. Journal named in the 2nd best burger in the country!

Holeman & Finch, ‘nuf said. I don’t care if it is a gastro pub it is the best of the bunch and also maintains the best bar burger in town. They only make 20 per night and serve them at 10:00 p.m. Those in the know order them early. Best carbonara in town as well. There is a reason they are in Food and Wine magazine.

I want to say the Vortex, but the Brick Store Pub is in its own league. Great burger and even better fish and chips.

BTW, if the pub won’t cook your burger to order (medium rare for me), then they should be disqualified.
