OUR PICKS

1) Tamarind Seed Thai Bistro

AJC dining critic Meridith Ford Goldman says, “No restaurant in Atlanta creates the fire show that is great Thai food with quite the amount of flavor and finesse as Tamarind Seed Thai Bistro.  Along with some of the best fish dishes the city has to offer, the classic Thai salads are small universes of enjoyment.”

MINT…a small place on Clairmont, just south of Dekalb-Peachtree Airport. Entrees under $10. I especially love the Panang and Massaman curry and green tea ice cream. Everything is fresh and delicious.

Without a doubt it’s Taste of Thai on Jimmy Carter Blvd. This restaurant was recommended by a Thai friend many years ago and we’ve never once been disappointed with anything we’ve had there. We have tried many other places including the most well-known and never found one as good. Their coconut milk soup, pad thai, basil and curry dishes are all great, service is good, no complaints at all.

Been there done THAiT. I defy all of you Tamarind, Nam, etc. Thai lovers to find a better jewel of a restaurant with consistently terrific meals across the menu than Taste of Thai. You know you have been to a great ethnic restaurant when the folks who recommend and rave about the place are of the same cultural heritage. Travel a little, you’ll be glad you did.

Bangkok on Piedmont in Midtown makes the best Pad Thai I’ve ever had in 30 years of eating Thai food. This is one of the first Thai restaurants in Atlanta and the owner operators are as gracious as they are skilled in the kitchen!

It’s still young but I think the Nan progeny Tuk Tuk is stupendous. A novel concept and super fresh good food.

The Chaba Thai (http://chabathaiduluth.com/) in the Duluth/Johns Creek area is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is excellent and the staff is very personable.
