You say, “Year after year, still the best Chinese food in the area. There may be newer, fancier and prettier Chinese restaurants around, but ‘Little Szechuan’ is still the best.”

Dining critic Meridith Ford Goldman says, “This gem is one of the best Sichuan restaurants in the area, even though some of my favorites, such as the scallion bubble pancakes, left with the exit of chef Peter Chang years ago. … It’s still hard to beat its fiery version of dan dan noodles, with spaghetti-like noodles, vegetables and lots of chili oil.” See her complete round-up for more on each of these Chinese treasures.

I’m an Atlanta resident and I just came back from Seattle and Tacoma, both have amazingly good and cheap Asian foods. And it was better than Atlantas.
But, my Chinese favorites in Atlanta are Little Szechuan, New Paridise, Cafe 101 (which is very popular with the Asian community) and Canton House for Dim Sum on Sunday. There are many more that are just OK, but have one or two rare standout dishes and these places are literally “hole in the walls”, so check them out. Unfortunately, it’s tough to find a good, inexpensive Chinese restaurant these days along Buford Highway. Little Szechuans prices have gone up for dinner, yet the lunch combos are mostly under $9.00 and are a steal with regard to the quality and quantity, I highly recommend their lunch.

Used to be Kwong Chow on Buford Highway in Doraville/Chamblee. Since they are gone I don’t really give bragging rights to any Chinese restaurant, but I will say Chin Chin is pretty good (small portions) and Rainbow Asia on Sixes in Canton.

Canton House on Buford Hwy is so much fun with the little silver carts of Dim Sum and the servers. It’f fun to watch the families at the huge round tables and try new exotic foods. Worth the time and effort to get to that part of town, yum yum.

While Little Szechuan would be my number 1 for many years, the last two offerings I had there were not up to par, and I did not recognize anyone. Has it been sold?
Pung Mie is very good. Ming’s BBQ is great for meat. If Chopstix is still around, they were always great.
Dim Sum at First China is the very best I have had.
Chef Liu has moved from the kiosk to a storefront and has a new menu, it is great.
